So I just watched this movie about a year ago, and...my God.
I like to sit down on the couch and watch movies all the way through, with as few breaks as possible. After this one, I literally felt physically exhausted when it was over. My sides hurt in a similar way to when I finish doing a set of push-ups.
I will not spoil any of the story for you, but I will say that what few special effects there are are quite good for the time. The very end made me roll my eyes internally, but externally I was so absorbed in the story and mechanics that I didn't mind.
Oh, right, the acting. It's very good; while I'm not normally a fan of rapid-fire dialog, the things being said by the characters are coherent, fascinating, and just simple enough to not make one's head spin. William Hurt does great as well, although this is only the second film I've ever seen him in, after The Village.
Damn good movie. Eight out of ten.

It's about sensory deprivation research.

I always heard that this was a serious movie, but the way Skinr described his reaction made me think he was laughing.

Just realized that I typed "saw this movie about a year ago" when I meant "week".
And yes, I was being totally serious. I felt strained from watching the last twenty-odd minutes of the movie.
Also, Cameron: just tried looking at your avatar with anaglyph 3D glasses, and its placement is backwards (that or too far apart).

I enjoyed this movie and have it on DVD. It's a good movie, but the ending is lacking and somewhat abrupt. It is interesting they way things happen literally with the power of the main characters mind being set loose through sensory deprivation.

I have that movie here at home and thought it was amazing the first time I watched it, but I've always been a big William Hurt fan. I especially liked how they presented the effects of the hallucinations.
