I'm a giant raving Blind Guardian fan, and have lately been getting in to Dragonforce as well, but other than that I've got an egregious lack of Metal that is "Power", with the bulk of my collection being Death / Black / Grind, IE anything heavy and crunchy, with a smattering of classic bands like Iron Maiden, Dio, Black Sabbath as well.

What other bands should I check out? I've heard of Wizards & Demons which is team up between Blind Guardian and Iced Earth, but who else should I investigate to balance out my overabundance of grunt-squeal-crunch-blast-repeat?

Rhapsody, Manowar, Gamma Ray, and Helloween are really good. Concerto Moon and Time Requiem are both really good Neoclassical Metal bands. There are many more Power Metal bands worth checking out, so I suggest going to Encyclopedia Metallum or even Wikipedia to find what you like.

This is true. But Rhapsody is now, apparently, called Rhapsody of Fire.

Some power metal bands I like:
Savage Circus (with the first drummer of Blind Guardian)
Altaria
Angel Dust
Hammerfall
Firewind
Kamelot
Newk (Korean power metal Razz)
Threshold
Wizards' Hymn (Japanese power metal)

Some others that are okay:
Crystal Tears
Crystal Viper
Dark Empire
StoneLake

I don't know if Suidakra counts as power metal, but they're good, too.

You should also definitely check out the Holy Dio tribute album, if you haven't already. One of the best tribute albums ever; Lots of power metal bands.

Running Wild is awesome. They sing about pirates.

I highly suggest Attacker. Attacker is not a very well known power metal band, however they're just amazing. I know a lot about great metal. Other suggestions: Jag Panzer, Stratovarius, Sabaton and Control Denied. Definitely check out Control Denied, the last project Chuck Schuldiner was ever involved with.

How the hell could I forget about Stratovarious? Another good Neoclassical Metal band is Cacophony, although it is instrumental, so don't be disappointed if you don't hear any singing.

Cacophony is actually speed metal and they do have vocals. I have both albums, Speed Metal Symphony and Go Off! and they both have vocals. Or... is their another Cacophony? The only Cacophony I know of is the one with Marty Friedman and Jason Becker (my favorite guitarist ever).

I have both Demons and Wizards albums. They're decent.....kind of inconsistent, though. A few good songs along with some boring ones. "Fiddler on the Green" on the self-titled album is a great song.

I do love the chorus on this song, though.....

EDIT: Fuck it, I can't figure out how embedding works on this site to save my life. Here's the link. Chorus starts at 1:45

I saw Dragonforce live maybe seven years ago on a bill with Chimeira and Killswitch Engage. They were so, so terrible. Didn't help that they didn't fit in style wise with the rest of the show, either.

Kamelot is just great. Stuff the whole family can enjoy. I also recommend a few Symphony X songs, and "Beyond The Black Hole" by Gamma Ray.

Oh, and "Mercenary Man" by Firewind! That song is just epic.
