and here's what first sale is

Not sure how to look at this. Does copyright law allow for companies to place restrictions on what can be sold in what region?
Also resale restrictions always seemed silly to me anyway. If I buy a video game, and sell it to a friend after I'm bored with it I'm just trying to make the money I lost when I first bought it. Though I guess with places like gamestop it gets tricky because they can have the same game 10 times and resell it and the behind it is completely left out

There's only field where there is relevant: video games. Here's hoping that it doesn't hold for that reason.

This is more about whether or not first-sale doctrine trumps regional restrictions on where a product can be sold. In other words, can I buy something in Europe that SydCo sells cheaper there, then resell it here for less than what they charge here? It won't affect most things we buy and sell online, really. I'd like to see how this ruling affects region-encoding DVDs if it goes against the publishers, though.
