Going through my SNES collection and wondering if, like me, you guys have any games that the rest of us may not know about...

For example, some, perhaps lesser known, SNES games I found which were (and are still) great games include...

Super Aleste (aka Space Megaforce), great shmup with some great music. A classic Compile game, those guys know how to make a shooter.

The Magical Quest Starring Mickey Mouse, yeah it's a Disney game but it's still really well made. Except Mickey walks slow-as-FUCK.

Super Star Wars, god this game is hard and FAST. I've got the PAL version going at 50Hz and Luke is jumping around like he's on fire or something. Great game, but needs a load of practice to get anywhere. Or maybe I just suck at this game...

Unirally (aka Uniracers). Great unicycle racing game where you perform a rapid succession of tricks to speed up. Crazy and great to play against mates.

Axelay was a mental good shooter, like one of my favorite ones I've played. Check it out, for seriously.

Super Aleste and the entire Aleste series is the fucking shit. Play the Japanese version though, as the European version and American verion is butchered.

albrowne, you should play the original Aleste on SMS.

Oh yeah, if anyone hasn't played it yet...

Figure it out.

And TwinBee ~rainbow bell adventure~ which is one of THE BEST platformers for the SNES.

ActRaiser on the SNES. That game was the balls.

And Rockin' Cats on the NES.

And Berserk, an old school arcade classic which doesn't get as much recognition as it should.

Pulseman for the Genesis kicks ass and NEEDS a sequel, I reviewed it here.

Super Fantasy Zone for the Genesis.

I spent a lot of time on Ys III: Wanderers from Ys, mainly out of accident (someone loaned it to me for something else, then they moved away). I found out it had been out quite a while before being ported to SNES. Apparently the series picked back up for a bit on newer systems, but I never got around to trying any of the others.

Ys: The Ark of Napishtim for PSP and PS2.

No one ever talks about Bushido Blade, which is completely and wholly flawless.

There never was an image here, what the fuck are you talking about?

I had Bushido Blade 1 & 2 for PSX. Awesome games. They just needed wider character selection.

Lesser Known Classics: Haunting for Genesis. It's so very cool to possess someone's family member and scare the hell out of them.

I liked this one a whole lot as a kid. Not that there was much of a choice but the boss battles were the best.

The Punisher for the Genesis. Nice and balanced beat 'em up that no-one played and you can go in the Options menu to choose your char.

Stinger for the NES (hey, it may be the worst game in the TwinBee series, but it's the only one we Americans got.) and it's damn fun if you don't compare it to the later games.

And that was my own suggestion ^^

Which game?

Wait, I think it was an arcade port, but I could be horribly, horribly wrong.

Kendo rage on the SNES is amazing, by that right so is Crusader of Centy on the Genesis. I like action games so I'm going to recommend Hagane, Popful Mail on the CD (Partly because popful reminds me of Lina inverse, partly because popful has nice legs and partly because that game is fucking awesome)

AIM FOR THE ACE

Image

Tennis is a timeless videogame classic.
I dont know what asian guy though of the virtual sport
of tennis, but if it was a real sport I'm sure it would be populated
by some womens league like in the manga Ace no Nerae!
and we could all watch it and watch women get sweaty and men freak out and get talk shows about it.
Unfortunately we can only hope, But with the recent success of wii sports we might get some sort of real-life version of tennis someday. Aim for the Ace! Is based off of the previously mentioned Ace no Nerae! As far as I can tell, it involves schoolgirls getting hot and sweaty and hitting balls with rackets. Its straight up fun with some nice Mode7 effects on the court

ACTRAISER 2

Image

Let's sum something up
Actraiser: Nifty action game with very fun sim-city portions
Actraiser2: Beutiful game with no sim-city portions and VERY hard

Actraiser 2 Is possibly the hardest (and prettiest) SNES game I have -ever- had both the joy and displeasure of playing.
At the same time it's a tremendously fun platformer romp and your really enjoying it, The next second your screaming like a madman as
you get knocked into a spike pit impailed by a spear and hit by fireballs (All in ten seconds)
If you like masochism you will like Actraiser 2

LittleMagic

Image

Schoolgirl pushes blocks in evil underground dungeon
Lots of pretty colors, looks like an NES game.
Tons of fun

Nuff' said

If you guys can get your hands on a NES emulator that also emulates the Famicom Disk System, you should try this nearly-forgotten Konami shooter called Falsion.

Image

Image

It's kinda like a Space Harrier-type affair (Forward-scrolling) and it was one of the games that used the Famicom 3-D glasses, so if you have any 3-D glasses, you're in luck. However, if you don't, you can play normally, but it'll just be a clusterfuck of separate graphics if you use the 3-D mode otherwise. You can collect powerups like homing attacks and shit like that, which separates it from other forward-scrolling shooters... Anyway, Falsion. (may I add, this was also a selectable ship in Gradius Gaiden)

I liked 7th saga for the SNES, I beat it with Lux. This is strange, because for the most part I never really bother beating an RPG. I get bored at a certain point and drop off.

Its not all that bad.
