I'm looking forwards to this game, but I can definitely wait for half a year when it gets a massive price reduction. Sadly, most of my friends want it right away.

I can't get this, all I have is a two year old laptop that needs to be replaced. It could play the first Borderlands pretty awesomely though, and when I get back from my mission I won't have the money for a new desktop for /ages/ so *shrugs*
I might end up taking the console route on this one.

As long as I can adjust the vertical / horizontal sensitivity I usually don't mind console shooters.

Holy crap, one of the best game intros of all time.
Even beyond that, this game is crazy good so far. Funny, well-written, dialogue, and gameplay that is consistently ramped up with tons of variations on weapons and character talents. After Opposing Force, Brothers in Arms, and now Borderlands, Gearbox might officially be my favorite developer.

I really want it, but I'm afraid that if I buy it before November, I'll lose my job because I'll spend too much time playing it

Went ahead and bought it, decided I couldn't wait. Glad I decided to, because the side mission "The Name Game" was worth $60 bucks by itself. The last name on that mission had me laughing my ass off, because it just came out of nowhere, nearly got me killed I was laughing so hard the mouse wouldn't keep steady.
The only thing I really haven't liked so far is that I found an orange pistol at level 10 that has infinite ammo. Kind of game breaking really: 1 round magazine, full auto, never requires you to find pistol ammo and even though its accuracy is low all you have to do is just spray in the general direction of what you want to hit and eventually they either die from arm and leg shots or get hit in the head and Zero's +crit damage skill takes over and kills them instantly.

If I recall from my unreasonably long foray into Pandora with Borderlands 1, ammo supply counts, but was never as important as other stats.
I'm hopeful that by the time that they release the discounted version of the game, they have published a bunch of bug fixes.

Yeah I'd say ammo supply gets less important as you get the capacity upgrades but in the early part of the game, where I am right now it is more important. I think if the gun had infinite ammo but was semi-auto instead of full I'd be more okay with it being found that early when you are still trying to make sure you have enough ammo to make it through a boss fight. It'd be a different story if I already had like 100 capacity for my sniper ammo and 500-600 capacity for the pistol ammo instead of 48 and 200 respectively. I guess I shouldn't complain about already finding a super rare weapon though lol.

There was one infinite ammo gun as a quest reward in the first, but it got outmoded as quickly as any other gun, while it was an insanely rare random drop. Once you start picking up eridium (check every box), ammo will cease to be a problem very quickly.

Yeah I was sitting on close to 100 eridium before I remembered to stop and cash it in. So far the game has been pretty fun, though I haven't tried out multiplayer yet because I want to do side quests and not rush through the game. Need to switch from the sniping tree and do the melee tree on Zero instead. Seem to find myself emptying guns while charging enemies so I can punch them to death with my bladed pistols a lot more than I find myself sniping.

That, and due to latency, sniping in multiplayer kind of sucks. I'm guessing the lag will cool down once the popularity evens out.
I'd restarted the game several times, trying to make up my mind on which class to take. I had played Lilith in the first one, but was kind of bored by the idea Maya's power in this one, so I tried the other 3 out. Axton's turret was fun, but something about him bored me, while Zero's powers didn't let me get into the thick of it, and two of my co-op buddies picked Salvadore. I'm actually really happy with Maya. I'm playing with corrosive/fire guns, and beefing up the power with elementals, and it's a lot of fun. Her playing has more rewards for getting into the thick of the action, and I'm really happy with her.
The side missions are so much better now. It tries to get away from "Collect 5 <goofy item> from the bandits," and it mostly just involves killing people where characters spout funny lines. I'm sure a few people here would dig the air bandit/splinter group quests.
I also got one of those infinite ammo (orange text) weapons, and it came in real handy during the dam mission, when I realized my fire weapons were poor against robots, so I just took my infinite ammo gatling pistol and blew them all apart. It was very cathartic and reminded me of games like Painkiller and Bulletstorm. I could seriously gab on and on about the game, but I know I'll spoil a bunch of shit. I just have to say that no matter how great the games of the past few years have been, it's probably this and Bulletstorm that were the only ones that were straight-up fun like they are.

Yeah the Splinter Group mission was awesome, even though the second I got offered it I knew exactly what it had to be.
I agree that the side missions are much better this time around, though I keep finding myself working through them and ending up with all but a handful being trivial by the time I can get to them all. I guess maybe they didn't intend for you to do every single side mission in the game in one playthrough so you end up with more exp than they planned.
I keep finding some really good missions and some of the lines are just hilarious. I'm kind of torn between Torture Chairs and The Name Game for my favorite funny one so far, and I'd say Splinter Group is my favorite overall so far. I don't even think I'm halfway through the game yet though so that may change.

Yeah, but then there were the instances in the first game, where you'd get a new batch of quests, and they'd all be out of your level range. The game is definitely improved by multiplayer. Taking down a huge monster boss with a billion hit points and a ton of extra baddies with your friends is super gratifying.
I'm also addicted to the slot machines. They're the biggest surprise to me in this game (also how I won my awesome infinite pistol).

Yeah I dropped 40k on the slot machines right before I quit for the night. Got enough eridium to max out my backback slots in one go. Haven't gotten anything but vendor trash weapon-wise yet but I know I'll hit it eventually. Good thing there isn't much other use for the money other than the very rare times the machines have better items than what I've already found and getting badass ranks for keeping so much of it.
Once I'm through the game and have done all the side quests I'll be doing the online. Only have one Steam friend and they don't have the game yet so I'll be doing it with randoms which is why I am waiting until I've had a chance to play through everything at least once. I remember it being a lot of fun on the first game when people weren't running off without you.

So the Circle of Slaughter things are a complete bitch. Breeze through the first few rounds and then get stuck on the others until I go grind out several levels. The Hyperion one in particular is annoying because of the Badass Surveyors, seriously fuck those things. You can't hit them because they fly so erratically in such an enclosed space, they never seem able to take a straight line at you like they can outside the arena, and you pretty much just have to wait from them to get wedged somewhere to kill them. The only time in the thing when they are easy to kill is when there's a constructor, I could kill it in three shots but it is worth so much more to attract the damn surveyors to it for repairs when you blast it in its face a couple times.
I only have two more rounds to go and I'll have all the side missions done. Just can't get past this one with Zero, a turret would work miracles here.

So the quests were getting easier and easier for a while, and I started to worry about difficulty, but after doing the Wildlife Exploitation quest, the difficulty has evened out, and the Lynchwood (think that's the name) quests were a nice mix of creative objectives and solid difficulty. I also like the characterization of Brick through the stories that are told about him, though I'm undecided on the quality of his voice acting.
Speaking of voice acting, Jack has to have my current favorite voice-acting in any game, show, or movie. The ending of the Bloodwing mission pretty much solidified my stance.
