Pretty self explanatory. I would say there are more shitty ones out there than nice to look at catch-your-eye kinda thing, and some bands don't have one at all. Let's see what you got. Shitty death metal band logos barely count, as seen here:

I looked at the image for several minutes and still can't decipher the largest of those logos. You are doing something wrong if people have to take so much time trying to read the god damned logo.

How are you supposed to decipher the top logo in that first post? The best I could make out of it was "AKAAFRA FPRELZ"
This was the only one I could find.
None of my favorite bands have cool logos.

The original Cannibal Corpse logo gets points for actually being legible. (TOP)
Although the new one is kind of generic looking. (BOTTOM)
I've always liked Blind Guardian's logo too.
Almost forgot, Metallica's original logo is pretty iconic and nifty looking, but we've all seen that before.

I would never have guessed the first or third ones. The problem is that that flyer would be 8x11 or smaller, and posted on a telephone pole, requiring people to stand out in public trying to figure out what the hell your band name is, instead of writing it out like a normal person.

The WaVVes and the Social Distortion one are great.
I always thought the Black Rebel Motorcycle Club logo is kinda cool. Looks like a mash up between a pirate flag and a biker gang sign. I think they stole it from the cult movie "The Wild One" starring Marlon Brando.
