So, in this thread, I'm going to make a list of my favorite kind of X songs about once a week or so. When I'm done, I want to see what yours are.

Starting off, best "week day" songs. Pick seven songs, each with a day of the week in the title.

Monday: Monday by The Jam
Tuesday: Tuesday Morning by The Pogues
Wednesday: Wednesday Morning, 3 A.M. by Simon and Garfunkel
Thursday: Thursday by Morphine
Friday: Friday I'm in Love by The Cure
Saturday: Another Saturday Night by Sam Cooke
Sunday: Sunday Kind of Love by Etta James

So what are your favorite weekday songs?

"Spanish bombs, yot' quierro y finito
Yo te querda oh ma corazón
Oh ma corazón, oh ma corazón" - The Clash, Spanish Bombs

Monday: "Blue Monday" by New Order
Tuesday: (couldn't find a song in my library)
Wednesday: "My Favorite Wet Wednesday Afternoon" by the Siddeleys
Thursday: "Thursday" by Asobi Seksu
Friday: "Friday I'm in Love" by the Cure
Saturday: "Come Saturday" by The Pains of Being Pure at Heart
Sunday: "Sunday" by the Cranberries (probably my favorite song on this whole list)

Tuesday: Tuesday's Gone by Lynyrd Skynyrd (Also the Metallica cover is pretty good)
Wednesday: A Wednesday Car by Johnny Cash (Again no songs in my library but this song was the best I could find on youtube)
Thursday: Couldn't find a single thing on youtube that sounded like something I'd ever listen to
Friday: Friday by Ice Cube
Saturday: Saturday Night Special by Skynyrd (Not really about a weekday but it has Saturday in the title)
Sunday: Sunday Morning by Maroon5

Monday: "Monday" by Wilco
Tuesday: "Tuesday Morning" by Whiskey & Co. (great cover of the original)
Wednesday: "Wednesday" by The Drive-By Truckers
Thursday: "Jersey Thursday" by Donovan
Friday: "Get 'em Out by Friday" by Genesis
Saturday: "Another Saturday Night" by Sam Cooke (Fuck it, I'm not even going to pretend it's not my favorite just because Fighter had it in his list)
Sunday: "Sunday Afternoon" by The Kinks (This one took no effort or thought because it is the best song)

So here's to you Mrs. Robinson. People love you more- oh, nevermind.

That's a fucking awesome list.

Uncle Tupelo really stood out, though. I LOVE that song. Probably has a place on mine too.

Punk almost seems like its own category.

Non-Punk
Early in the Morning by Peter, Paul and Mary
Kiss Me, Son of God by They Might be Giants
Not Fade Away by The Rolling Stones
The King of Carrot Flowers by Neutral Milk Hotel
Vera by Pink Floyd
Please, Please, Please Let Me Get What I Want by The Smiths
Satan, Your Kingdom Must Come Down by Uncle Tupelo
Psycho Daisies by The Yardbirds
Hit the Road Jack by Ray Charles
Yearnin' by the Black Keys

Punk on the other hand, has tons, but a few highlights are
White Riot by the Clash
Big Bang by Bad Religion
Pay to Cum by the Bad Brains
I'm the One by NOFX
Bloodstains by Agent Orange
Bitchin' Camaro by the Dead Milkmen
One Seventeen by the Transplants
Maxwell Murder by Rancid

I would have said King of Carrot Flowers, but I just naturally assumed that every song on that album is pretty long.

It's such a good album. Obviously I'm kind of a fan. My favorite song off of it is Holland, 1945, but obviously that doesn't fit the list theme.

The only song on my iTunes under 2:00 (and not an intro or outro) that I listen to is Blitzkrieg Bop by the Ramones.

Mine would be Oh Comely, because I am such an emo dick. Seriously, it's probably the only song I've listened to that's drawn tears out of me.

Making this list was really, really hard at first (as I generally don't pay attention to track lengths), but once I used my media player to put every song in my library in order of track length, it became much easier. I hope that isn't considered cheating. Razz

These are in no particular order.

HEALTH - "Pills"
Wire - "Another the Letter"
Pearl Jam - "Lukin"
Young Marble Giants - "Eating Noddemix"
The Smiths - "Please, Please, Please Let Me Get What I Want"
Grimes - "Eight"
Nick Drake- "Road"
Daft Punk - "Derezzed"
The Raveonettes - "Untamed Girls"
Anamanaguchi - "Cheap Shop"

Fig just reminded me of how rushed my list is. I'll call this round a wash on my part.

I want ot mix the music and the games this time. Give me your five favorite Sega Genesis tunes. Or more, if you want. I don't really care. The SNES had endless good music on it, but I don't feel quite the same way about Sega. Which is disappointing, since the Genesis probably had the better soundcard of the two.
