Police believe the suspect may have gotten into an argument with a coworker at the Pathmark before he allegedly left the store around 3:30 a.m., and retrieved an AK-47 and a handgun from his car |
Just... If this is the real reason then wow. Hell if I'd resorted to this when I got pissed off at work I'd have 3 dead managers, and a dead coworker that used to show up high every damn day, and then would go and get high behind the store when her friends showed up.
The actual deaths are really sad a 18 year old woman, and a 24 year old woman were both killed by him.

They seem to be increasing lately. Bad Summer. Baffling. These things used to be rare, I thought. But then again, I remember post offices were having a bunch of workplace shootings for a while there, but that seemed to die down.
On top of everything, Chicago's southside appears to be killing people every night. Stupid, leaderless gangs. We need more cops. At least they're interviewing my ex-marine buddy for a job. But that makes me worry about his safety. Ugh.

See, this is the problem I have with the news media. While randomized gun violence is a pretty rare thing, every instance of it being picked up and run like it's the most important story in the country is making people feel like it's normal.
What's going on in Chicago is closer to the real crime problem in this country. Yet how much national new coverage has that earned?

What we need are the smarter gangs, with good, strong leaders.

Wait, I'm in Chicago. What's going on, and should I be afraid?

I have heard nothing of the sort.
Also that doesn't make any sense.

Obviously you're not a Ghost Buster fan.
Anyway, there's been a major uptick in gang violence, and gun crime, particularly on the South Side. Mayor Emmanuel seems to be approaching the problem by being a politician.

Oh, I see. That would explain why my co-workers keep having to call off work for family funerals...
