The "always on" DRM is gone and won't be attached to new products. One time registration is all that is required. Wahoo!

RPS: That’s excellent news. So do you have any regrets about the always-on DRM that you had been using?

Perotti: We’ve listened to feedback, we will continue to listen to feedback, we will continue to make sure that we deliver great games and great services, and are now operating under this policy.

They sure are keen on informing the world that they listen to feedback. It's written into almost every answer. Makes you wonder how much listening they needed to do to realize this was needed. I'm guessing they're doing this because someone threatened them with a lawsuit or something.

Maybe they just genuinely listen to feedback and want their customers to know it?

As a console gamer, I assume this DRM issue never had an effect on me.

You also live in an environment where you essentially never have to worry about being without internet connection...

Are there 360 games that require you to be on Live for them to work?

I think Bionic Commando: Rearmed had that flaw, but that might be just the PS3 version.

It was Rearmed 2, and why there's DRM at all on the PS3 is beyond me.

I'm sure they've listened for a while. They just chose not to act upon it until now.

I am not sure if this is related, but when I got a new XBOX 360, I put my old hard drive in the new one and wasn't able to play any of the arcade games on it without connecting to LIVE or going on xbox.com and updating my licenses. I didn't have internet for a few months so I was not able to play a few dozen games.

DRM is a lot of the reason I've quit buying physical copies of PC games and just stick to Steam. Never had Steam give me invalid CD key errors because I installed a game more than once because I reformatted a computer or something.

Yeah, that's a thing. Old hard drive in new system requires a license transfer, and you can't do more than one per year without special permission from Microsoft.
