This is the problem with politics today, it is no longer just about differences in government issues. The republican party was intelligent enough to understand that if they ran off of their platform of no regulation, no taxes and trickle down economics they would lose; but if they claim some sort of moral cause, say the largest religion in America they could meld religion and politics to their advantage.
Now they have the poor and middle class on their side not because they understand government or economic policies; but because they have to support the republican party to stand upon the moral high ground and look down upon the rest of liberal America, Fox news spoon feeds this nonsense so people with two sparking brain cells left like Dave or inbred folk and their kind will eat it up like candy. Yeah, there are undoubtedly plenty of intelligent people out there with conservative beliefs, but there are way more of the brain-dead moron class like a coworker of mine who keeps calling Obama a Socialist and telling me that gay marriage is wrong because the bible says so but that other things it says in the same chapter like how it's OK to own slaves is "because times were different back then."
And touching on the recent gunman rampages; If I hear one more person say "Well, you know what would have happened if everyone in X location had a gun when that guy started shooting?" Yes I do actually, there would have been a ton more injuries and/or deaths as every cowboy packing heat started firing at whoever he thought was the aggressor and the police would have spent twice the time and effort trying to figure who shot what bullet from which gun and who was responsible for what injuries, etc.

This may very well just be my own perspective, but it seems to me retarded conservatives at least have a little more influence in our government than retarded liberals. The GOP have people like Rick Perry, Sarah Palin, Michelle Bachmann, etc. as politicians who actually have/had a hand in our government, but how many politicians on the left side do we have who are as crazy as Michael Moore? I'm sure they exist too, but I just can't name any off the top of my head.
The reason I say I'd rather have retarded liberals is because I see them as less dangerous to the system.
