I'm fed up of all these easy modern games that are impossible to fail. Can anyone recommend me games that are worthy of my skills?
I have Dark Souls, Super Meat Boy and most fighting games, so don't say those.

I did a couple of levels on Very Hard but as I had all the abilities, the difficulty was trivial (HINT: you can kill almost everything instantly by drop kicking them then decapitating them while stunned)

lol on Xbox 360?
Try Deathsmilies, Akai Katana, any DoDonPachi game or the infamous Mushihimesama Futari (no this is not messed up japanese porn, even if it sounds like it). Your soul will cry and bleed because of how hard it is.

I've played a fair bit of Deathsmiles, and I've been meaning to try the other three you mentioned for a while but I feel like I already have enough games in that genre.

You could also try regular Shmups like Otomedius: Excellent and Otomedius: Gorgeous. They always have a Loop wich is near to impossible, as you may already know.

Otomedius Excellent is boring. It's also the only Otomedius playable on an NTSC-U 360. The other shmups are all good recs.

Aren't Gorgeous and Excellent pretty similiar? That is what i at least assumed from the videos and screenshots i saw.
Otomedius is also one of the games why i really need to buy a Xbox one day.

Otomedius is the most disappointing shmup I've ever played. It's literally just Gradius, except you're a girl on a flying life buoy instead of a ship. I had been expecting the weird creative fun of Parodius, and the game has NONE of that.

It didn't remind me of Parodius when i saw it. I see the parallels though.
I like that it's a game really for Shmup Fans. All the references to the other games, the characters and cameos. I really like all that. It's now wonder to me that it's actually a Gradius-Clone. It's very fitting.

Came in here to say Dark Souls because that's really about all there is and saw you already had it. Even it isn't very hard once you get a few soul levels and get the patterns and stuff down though.
I guess Ninety-Nine Nights 2 was a little difficult for me. Mostly because it is a bit of a button masher in the Dynasty Warrior style and I'm not very good at those games. Plus some of the difficulty came from poor level design.

Another recommendation thread!?
Ninja Gaiden 2 is harder than everything 3D on 360. Enjoy beating Vanquish on God Hard and beating challenge 6 as well. For STGs Mushihimesama Futari 1.5 is much harder than Death Smiles fyi. I also have read about Operation Darkness without auto-restore...

As I feared, I've already tried pretty much everything (excluding shmups)

Resonance of Fate is a JRPG that's difficult, even when you figure out its fucked-up battle system.
Max Payne 3 on hardest was a huge pain, but still rewarding.
R.U.S.E. is one of the few modern RTS games that require actual thought into your strategy beyond "BUILDTHEBASENOWRUSHWITHSMALLUNITS."
Capcom's games get pretty rough with Dead Rising and Vanquish.
As for XBL titles, Trials HD gets punishing in the last half, and the Zeboyd games like Breath of Death and Cthulhu Saves the World both have fun SNES JRPG-style combat systems with interesting twists. Also, if you don't like Super Meat Boy, you suck.

So here's to you Mrs. Robinson. People love you more- oh, nevermind. |

Vanquish is great, get Vanquish. It's kinda like a modern version of Contra. It's Action, Action, load your gun and Action. Lot's of fun if you ask me.

I though Vanquish was Sega not Capcom.

I'll probably try these three, thanks!

I can play it for free with better controls.

The only parts of splatterhouse that made me want to rip my hair out were it's mediocrity and repetitiveness.

It's definitely fun for what it is. It's as repetitive as the three games in the series before it, but also like the games before it, it's a delightfully gory beat-em-up that's a blast if you don't take it too seriously (which, it doesn't particularly take itself too seriously, so neither should you).

Splatterhouse was fun, kept me entertained for a few hours, but I had just finished Dante's Inferno and Darksiders before playing it, and it seemed weak in comparison.

I've never even played past the first level of 360 Splatterhouse, since mine came with the DLC for the original trilogy. I keep playing the first game (the arcade port not the Turbografx port) since I'd never actually seen a cabinet of one and wanted to check out the original.
The damn level where you fight the damn chainsaw hand guy is damn difficult, and if you can rage swear your way through him the next level is even more obnoxious. I still haven't beat the stupid thing.
Still it's the closet thing to a game where you play Jason, so I'm not too angry at it.

Start on Hard mode and don't use try again. Classic Bullshit. Will leave you in a bad mood guaranteed.
The first stage boss [SPOILER:dfe61ab0b4]wields two spiked metal clubs. Say you dodge these when he chucks them at you. That's good. Now when you go to hit the boss all of a sudden those clubs boomerang back to him and hit you![/SPOILER:dfe61ab0b4]

I know someone who has it, so I'll try it one day. Not really a fan of Koei games though.
I'll post a list of games I think are challenging for reference
Ninja Gaiden 2: I finished Mentor, but it took so long I'm not even going to attempt Master Ninja.
Vanquish: God Hard and challenge 6 are just insane as Vert pointed out.
Resident Evil 5: Professional mode is horrible, everything kills you in one hit and you have to rely on the dubious AI partner to revive you.
Dead Space 2: I played on Zealot on my first playthrough which was quite tricky, but I did it. Hardcore mode scares me; you're only allowed to save three times, so you have to do the game in chunks of 90-120 minutes without messing up. No thanks.
Dark Souls:It's not too bad when you get the hang of it, but NG+ is a different story.
The Witcher 2: Insane mode has perma-death. No thanks!
Call of Duty 2: Call of Duty is always a good example of how to not make a game difficult, it feels mostly based on luck. CoD2 was the hardest, I thought.
Bioshock: If you use the patch to turn vita chanbers off, you have to play fairly which is not fun.
