I really wish i didn't have to make this thread but....

Basically i have just came back from London where i took a number of photos on my Blackberry.

I imported the photos and two of them will open and the rest will not. It said the import was complete and the file sizes are normal.

I cannot for the life of me open them. I tried countless programs installed and i checked the file extension as: hptsmsmvp.jpg

I've tried googling for solutions but to no avail. I've tried converting them which did nothing and to make matters worse my Blackberry just decided to shit itself and delete them off itself.

Any assistance will be greatly appreciated guys.

Did the pictures look fine on the Blackberry before transferring?
Also, were the two pictures who transferred well the first two to be transferred?

Yes they were fine beforehand. I viewed them in the airport this morning. The files are similar in size as well with the two that did work, about 400kb.

No they weren't. The first doesn't work, second does and the other that works is like the fifth. It even said import complete from my phone to computer.

I honestly have no idea.

Does your phone have an SD card?

It sounds like you might want to take it out and run recovery software on it.

As for the local files, have you tried http://www.irfanview.com/ to see if the images come up at all?

@Username - they were saved onto my SD card.

@GPFontaine - yes i do have one. The problem with that is i don't have a reader for a micro SD card so i can't restore anything.

Yeah i just installed that there, i got:

Can't Read File Header!

Unknown file format or file not found!

Here's a picture for context i guess:

Image

Two there which work. Other two have no thumbnails. All details about camera used etc. are missing as well. They are present on first two. I cannot format the card or reinstall or anything. Simply it is fucked.

Not having a reader is a small issue. You should be able to find a reader for less than $20 or so now. The more you use the card, the more likely you are to overwrite any possibility of recovery.
