Too Good At 2D Games

It's that time again! Yes, it's time for the 4th (not really) annual NES competition, brought to you by Fernin and yours truly. This championship will feature more games and challenges than we've ever had before. Hooray!
Things are going to be a little bit different this time around. This won't follow the standard 10 week, 1 challenge a week format. Instead, we'll feature 2 games a week, each with its own challenge, that will span over the course of only 8 weeks. Every week, two new challenges will be posted in separate threads, each with a description and game file and any necessary save files provided for you. You can choose to attempt either one, but not both. Only one will count officially. Before the deadline at the end of each week, you'll submit a movie file of your best effort to either myself or Fernin. Further details will be provided when the competition begins.
The emulator we'll be using is VirtuaNES v0.97 once again. Make sure you track it down if you need it.
If you want to be a part of this magnificent experience, all you have to do is post in this thread your intention to participate. The first round starts on April 9, but you can still enter at any time during the competition.

I'd love to give this a try but I know that school will probably prohibit me from giving it the proper focus. I look forward to watching everyone else though, and maybe I will play along at home.

You know Klim is the defending champion, right? I'm like Vald, I usually do better on SNES than NES.
But I'll probably tell him he sucks every week anyway, just because. Even if he beats me.
As there'll be 6 people in the Top 3 every week, 1st place race should be close for quite a while. Hurray! \o/
