Those of you who know me are probably aware that I bought a copy of Ultraman Club: Teki Kaijuu o Hakken Seyo for the original Game Boy. Surprise, just like the GBA and DS, the games are not region locked.

Unfortunately, just like my previous imported Ultraman game (PD Ultraman Battle Collection 64), this one is a strategy/RPG thing. And, except for the words "PUSH START", it's entirely in Japanese. I really should have learned my lesson by now, but them's the fractures.

So, back on topic. Anyone know any good Game Boy (or Color, or Advance) games that were only released in Japan? Preferably ones whose enjoyment doesn't hinge on reading ability. Even if the game was released here with changes from the original version, it'd still be cool to get them.

Shin Bokura no Taiyo: Gyakkushu no Sabata. Also somebody (me) released a translation patch for it if you wanted to go that route and enjoy the story along with the gameplay.

More information may be found here.

Too bad I couldn't apply the translation patch to an actual copy of the game...

Kaeru no Tame ni Kane wa Naru (For the Frog the Bell Tolls) for the original Gameboy. Pretty much an early version of Link's Awakening (The Rival character Richard even appears in Link's Awakening along with the main theme of Kaeru) only it's an RPG with a very interesting playtype: When you walk into an enemy, battle initiates automatically and if you're strong enough, you win. If not, you need to find new weapons or powerups. Very Very Fun and a very good sense of humor.

Site is acting a bit wonky. I believe that is the link, but it isn't working for me right now.
