I actually really liked this episode. Biggest laugh of the night was easily, "Jesus loves me this I know, for the Republicans tell me so..." It's not one of their all time best eps, but it was far better than the last two imho.
I have to say too, I'm a sucker for sappy endings like that. I actually quite liked it.

Yes, but I will see you that fact, and raise that it is still hilarious every time Cartman makes one.

...sadly, I have to concede that point. "Heeb-ie jeebies"...

Not quite as good as Cartman's Jesus song, but still hysterical.
And the thing is, it wouldn't be funny in ANY context other than Cartman saying it sincerely. There's just something about that character that makes his racism and various -phobias absolutely hilarious.

You know what worries me? The show has, in general, been at about a B/B- level, for a while, with occasional epic moments, and occasional bombs. This is two lousy episodes in a row. I can't remember the last time that happened, and I really hope it's not 3 in a row.

Tonight's episode was good stuff. The anti-bullying song had me rolling. And the poke at the KONY guy getting busted for beating off in public was great.

Oh my god that song was hilarious. Cartman in the video nearly killed me. Good lord that was funny.

This entire season is mostly falling flat for me. I hope it's not because I'm getting old.

Agreed. If "Six Days to Air" is any indication, I'm guessing that with this kind of production schedule it sometimes takes them time to get back into the swing of things. I'm sure they ran with the less than stellar scripts/ideas of the last few eps purely to have something done in time. Hopefully this is the episode where they start shaking off the rust.
Also, that San Diego song was awesome. I will be singing that San Diego song for some time. I loved seeing all those landmarks I live right by.

I thought it was a great episode (so it was mocking that Kony thing? Makes a bit more sense now). The hilarious stuff was hilarious, and the stuff with Butters...
...I'll be honest, it sickened me. This may be obvious, but I have a lot of empathy for Butters. Butters already suffers from abuse from his parents, and to see the mean-spirited abuse his grandmother heaped upon him secretly really, really got to me, since I'm sure there are more than a few kids being mistreated by family members that intimidate them into not speaking up. This isn't a negative criticism of the episode, in fact, I think they handled this aspect of it well. While they made it funny (the Professor Chaos bit and beating the shit out of Dr. Oz was awesome), they didn't turn it into a farce, and that speech there at the end was pure awesome and pure Butters and reaffirmed why I like that kid so much.
I'd probably put it on my top 10 personal favorites list.

I hear you Usa. I didn't have that reaction to this ep, but I have in the past. Specifically the ep where Cartman frames him for something and eats popcorn while his parents beat him up. Ugh.
They have toned down the parent abuse with Butters in the last few seasons, which is nice.

They actually got told to tone it down after that episode. And they did. He still suffers from a whole heaping trainload of emotional abuse, though.

I think that may have been a subtle point. That by and large family abuse is more frequent than bullying. But maybe I'm looking too much into it

I feel this way about any shows and movies with bullying in them. It's hard to watch movies about nerds/losers because they always have bullying.
Saying that, though, I lost it when Cartman broke into the song.

While the comments on tour groups/small talk was funny, it's not something you can revolve an entire episode around. The live action stuff was good, though. Otherwise, another meh episode, and another that illustrates that Trey & Matt are just watching random reality shows on smaller cable networks during their time off and writing parodies of them for the show.
To paraphrase Usa earlier in the thread, it really has been a B- season for me. Passable, and mildly entertaining, but not reaching the great heights the show used to hit for me. Hoping for better before the mid-season hiatus.

I reallllllllllly don't know what to think of that one. I mean, was it bad? No. It was solid, and it had some chuckle-worthy moments. But really nothing that would make me want to ever see it again.

I think the live action stuff was probably one of the worst things I've ever seen on South Park ever. I literally cringed the whole time.
