At $10 bucks on Steam, I think this game is a Steal.
Picture Minecraft, but 2D. Mix in monsters that you actually want to fight. Bosses. Treasure Chests and huge maps.
Creative crafting systems, Multiplayer and all that good stuff.
You're not going to be making creative stuff in this like you would in Minecraft, but you will be building your house more to hoard off monsters of the night. Then go out during the day to collect more crafting items, then finally building up to fight bosses to get more gear/vanity items.
Seriously, if your bored, check it out. It has Multiplayer as well and I've been having a blast with it.

I bought this when it came out. I played it for two days, got completely lost, somehow got my world corrupted, and haven't touched it since.

Fernin walked me through a lot of stuff or yeah, I would have probably been lost as well.
It's much nicer when playing with some people who have an idea on whats going on. It's not my server to offer for you to play on, but I assume Fernin wouldn't turn you away if you wanted to try again with us.

I don't know about you, but five minutes after my first game started, the whole screen went pitch black, a minute later I was informed that I was slain, and right when it started to brighten up and I could actually see what I did wrong, my computer crashed. I restarted and came back to a world completely devoid of anything. I thought it was kinda cool as a nihilistic metaphor, but it's not something I would try twice. I gave it another go with the multiplayer with a friend of mine, but he got too far ahead of me in seconds and I decided it wasn't for me.

Of course you can play, Alow, everyone's welcome on the server. Just pester me in the chat and I'll put it up and let you know what the IP/port numbers are.
As for your experience, Excel, I'm sure you know that the game's not actually /supposed/ to be like that and are just making a joke at the expense of it failing miserably on you. Graphical glitches and such sort like that can be fixed with effort, but only if you actually want to try and have fun with us.

This happened to me on the day it came out. I'm sure it's all fixed by now because I've heard of similar experiences on the Steam forums around the same time. I gave it a second chance but it still didn't seem like it was worth my time, so the bad first impression combined with the lacklustre gameplay after I got past it rubbed salt in the wound.
On another note, my brother got this game a while back and actually got somewhere with it. I don't know what people see in these things.

Well, sorry the game's not good enough for you. The rest of us will continue to have fun with the game while you sit around and sulk.

Yeah I didn't really like the game that much either, but that's a pretty dickish thing to say to a thread full of people who clearly enjoy the game. Just go somewhere else instead of shitting on their parade.

Early research has shown that people who dislike Terraria tend to have an IQ nearly 25 points lower than those that enjoy it.

Well, I hear when it goes on sale, it drops down to $2.50, it's just catching it at sale.

Actually, I found out today that the $2.50 sale was a mistake on Steam's part. It was supposed to be a 25% off sale, but it ended up as a 75% off sale. Anyone who snagged the sale got to keep it without having to pay more, but it's unlikely a mistake like that will happen again. For the time being, the best you can probably hope for is getting it at $7.50.

This sounds interesting, but I don't feel like paying for it. From first look the game looks like a game I would expect to be free. However, if I put more interest into it like I did with Minecraft (well, Minecraft had me sold because of the Classic mode being freely available) I could consider getting it.

Been meaning to try it. I love games with construction like Minecraft, as well as the idea of exploring around in caves and stuff. I'll pick it up one of these days when I finish up a few of my games I have now.

So here's to you Mrs. Robinson. People love you more- oh, nevermind. |
