Assuming there were a few ties with the voting there or something. Anyway, I've yet to have a game actually make me cry, but I've seen plenty of touching game moments. Maybe I'm a sociopath or maybe I'm just not a weirdo.

Other than discussing the list, has anyone cried from a video game?

I'm trying to think if a game ever made me cry. I don't think so. Movies and television though, definitely.

I want to say Lost Odyssey, some RPG that was on the 360, made me tear up a little when the kids' Mom died and the whole funeral was shown, but I never actually cried. I've had several movies that did though.

Final Fantasy X made me cry, but only when I saw they were making a sequel to it.

They have Mother 2 & 3, that makes me want to cry.

Seriously though, I've never cried. I have felt a little sad when a game ends but I like the characters, story and overall experience so much that I wish there was more like Kingdom Hearts, Final Fantasy 12 and Ico.

Actually, I was wrong. Thinking harder, I can three instances where video games made me tear up:

1) Final Fantasy IV, the assault on the Giant of Bab-il when all your old friends show up to distract it so that you can destroy it from the inside.
2) Some of the stuff in the true ending to 999.
3) Midori's complete lack of moral ambiguity in Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor.

Final Fantasy IX did make me cry. Ico didn't, but I can see why it would.

I didn't exactly see anything really sad in FFX. Just CGI over-acting.

Never cried, but I have run into quite a few genuinely sad moments (Spoilers for FF7, HL2: Ep.2, and Brothers in Arms) :

[SPOILER:5729edb62a]
-Nobody really mentions it these days, but when Red XIII discovers his father in FF7
-Quite a few moments in Secret of Mana (or whenever that damned music played)
-Following Khan through the abandoned tunnels/exploring Cursed Station in Metro 2033.
-When Eli died in Half Life 2: Episode 2.
-When Allen and Garnett died in Brothers in Arms, and when Doyle gets killed in the sequel. [/SPOILER:5729edb62a]

So here's to you Mrs. Robinson. People love you more- oh, nevermind.

The only game to ever make me cry was Metal Gear Solid 4, specifically the last hour of the game...
[SPOILER:a6c518fecf]Particularly the last scene with Raiden, Rose, and John. So emotional...[/SPOILER:a6c518fecf]

I teared up at the end of Earthbound. I think the way you defeat the final boss is all kinds of emotional and moving. Just thinking about it makes my throat tighten up a bit.

once, the AC adapter for my SNES was acting up (you had to move the cable around in a certain angle for it to work) and i was trying for about 45 minutes to make it work and i couldnt, and that made me tear up in frustration.

Um, the SNES game is Mother 2.

Mother 1 was for the NES and was translated into English by Nintendo but never officially released. The prototype cart was auctioned off and was eventually dumped. The ROM is out there on the internets.

Never knew that. I can't play roms anymore so I guess it'll be awhile before I can play the first game.

The part in Golden Sun 2 where you're forced to kill your parents was pretty depressing/fucked up.

As indicated on the list, the ending of MGS3: Snake Eater was quite touching. The music at the end of the game really added to the emotional impact, including the song that played while the credits rolled.

Butt-head: "You're moved.....heh heh heh."

Lester Chaykin dying in Heart of The Alien was fucked up but I didn't cry. Maybe Super Metroid when mother brain kills the friendly metroid? Probably didn't cry but it was emotional.

"Kana Little Sister."

One warning: it's a hentai visual novel.

It you can get past that fact and play it, you will bawl your eyes out. It was very well written, and one of the most emotionally moving games I have ever played.

It is extremely well reviewed, and one of those games that is so good, it breaks out of it's genre.

Tales of Legendia just made me angry for being such a terrible game.

That part didn't make me cry, but hearing Sheba talk about her past was kinda depressing.

Also, the very ending when everyone is celebrating their reunion is happy enough to make me tear up.

I get too attached to stories like that though. I think it's just the prospect of the story being over that made me tear up.

Ditto. The ending killed me because I'd beaten it on Valentine's Day and it was right after a break-up.
