I'm watching E3 on G4 right now, the gameplay looks pretty slick for a motion controlled game, but I hope they either improve on it or Miyamoto is just bad at motion control.

I think it looks promising, but even though I love Zelda, I'm not going to buy a Wii just for this game. I'd still love to be able to play the game without motion control, I find that games actually become less immersive when you have to flail around to get things done.

Regardless though, the motion control still seems gimmicky to me, but I do hope for their sake that this game works out. But I'm really looking forward to seeing Zelda in high definition, and we all know that won't happen until the next generation of consoles.

Technical difficulties aside, this looks really fun.

I think there had to be issues, sword play works fine on sports resort.

This. At best, when it works, it breaks immersion by requiring you to aim at the sensor bar and flail around like a prat. At worst, it doesn't work right and the game becomes unplayable or at least more difficult to play because you have to work so hard to get the gimmicky bullshit to work.

Can't we just have normal controls back? It wasn't broke, so why are developers fixing it?

It is quite possible that all the wifi and bluetooth in the place were interfering with the game.

This does look like the best use of motion control so far, but it still looks gimmicky and a little awkward.

Honestly, I loved using the bow and slingshot on TP, it felt very natural, and I can only imagine that the controls are going to be improved.

We get it, you don't like motion controls. Stop posting in threads related to Wii games, because you just spew the same whiny wet blanket bullshit over and over again. Let those of us who are excited about Wii games be excited about Wii games.

I was a little underwhelmed. It just looks like a more realistic Wind Waker. Also, compared to the trailer for TP, which made you want to shit bricks, this doesn't look like anything new. Also, Skyward Sword? That name sucks.

Am I still going to buy it and play the shit out of it? Of course.

Well my brother owns a wii, so he might get it. If he does, then I'll definitely borrow it.
If I owned a wii, I'd consider it, but it's not a platform seller IMO.

At this point, there are no platform sellers. There's no game that's going to come out on PS3, 360, or Wii that suddenly makes you decide that you HAVE to have a console. Unless, you know, you're an idiot. There are already at least a dozen games for each console that justify owning them.

True, though we are pretty deep into this generation, and most people who do care about gaming already own their console(s) of choice.

Still, as publicly traded corporations, these guys are required to try and steal market share from their rivals. If anything, I would expect a new Zelda game to be a serious attempt at this, but if it is, it's quite an underwhelming one.

Well, they didn't really show anything outside of new gameplay mechanics, and the live demo didn't work quite right. A proper trailer would have been better.

I used to be MySpace friends with a Nintendo Power writer. Sadly, he lost his job when the magazine was sold to a third party publisher and reorganized. I think pretty much everyone who was there at the time did. Sad

its called Skyward Sword? thats kind of gay, but then again, most zelda titles are kind of weak.

title as in name of the game. not the actual game itself

Spirit Tracks is my favorite title, because people abbreviate it LZST.

Spirit Tracks was a good title, too bad it was the most boring Zelda game I have ever played. I'm a little disappointed that this doesn't appear to be the Majora's Mask sequel that was rumored.

i don't like the graphic of the new zelda. looks like a compromise between wind waker and Twilight princess. to colorful and cartoon like. should have been sticked with the twilight princess style.

I kinda like it. It's not absolutely cartoonish like Wind Waker, and it doesn't seem as dark or realistic as Twilight Princess, but it's a nice blend. It's very vibrant, like it would be in real life.

It reminded me more of the N64 games. Remember how vibrant the colors were in Hyrule Field in Ocarina? Or Termina Bay in Mask? It looks like that. Your comparisons are silly and inaccurate.

I'm one of the people who loved the look and feel of Wind Waker, so I found this somewhat cell-shaded look to be pretty cool. Since the motion controls seem to be mandatory, I'll trust that Miyamoto and company will find a way to make them work well and not be burdensome.

Also, did they say anything about adding actual voice-acting of the dialogue?

That just sounds like a bad idea. I like the way Midna's voice acting went, though, if they could somehow pull that off for everyone, that wouldn't be TOO bad... But I still say it's a bad move.
