I am not sure if this has been discussed at length but I just ordered Pizza, a #5 from Chicago Deep Dish (even though I dont live anywhere near chicago) basically pepperoni, mushroom and green pepper, I opted to add fresh tomato and ham as well, sounds like a winning combination. What winning combinations do you guys have??

Let's assume it's a mixture of the two!

Sounds delicious. I'm more a fan of New York style thin crust pizza but I've had some really good deep dish pizza as well.

I'm partial to Hawaiian pizza (Canadian bacon/ham, pineapple, and black olives) and single topping pizzas.

Also, a tip to make any pizza better is to order it well done. Pizza is always better well done. I like mine almost burned.

There's a place down here that makes one with lamb, roma tomatoes, Turkish calamata olives, purple onions, and feta cheese. It's great.

I am lucky in that I live in New York, so the town I live in has 5 different pizzerias that are all pretty damn good. I love a good old plain cheese pie or pepperoni, but the specialties I really enjoy are the Taco Pizza (beef, cheddar cheese, olives, salsa, etc.), White Pizza and Margherita. I had a really awesome Sicilian pie yesterday from another town about 15 minutes from where I live, the dough and crust was baked to perfection and the combination of sauce and cheese was magnificent, it just melted in my mouth. I also love deep dish pizza, but I don't ever order it when I am in New York, I like to leave it as a special treat for when I am traveling across country and passing through the areas where they traditionally make them great.

Mushroom or meat-lovers.

I also never do "chain" pizza places. I feel like you get better pizza, and usually bigger pizza, from local shops.

There's a local pizza shop right across the street from me. It's a blessing and a curse, but with $10 large pepperonis, you can't really go wrong.

I generally like any kind of thick crust pizza (thin crust is an absolute waste of my time). I like pepperoni, extra cheese, green peppers, sausage - really anything excluding pineapple (which is the single most horrid fruit in existence) and olives of any sort. Stuffed crust pizza is le bomb.

Also, one of my friends, for my birthday, made his patented buffalo chicken pizza; chicken, mozzarella cheese, Frank's Red Hot Buffalo Chicken Sauce, and a small amount of ranch, all on top of homemade dough.

Needless to say, it was one of the most delightful things I've ever eaten. Very Happy Surprisingly and incredibly filling, too (he cut it into eighths and I could only eat two slices before I got full).

I also want to try his new Taco Pizza:

Guys, this really belongs in the food forum.

That said, I'm a big fan of pesto pizzas. Pesto sauce, feta cheese, and black olives is an awesome combination. My mom likes to make a pizza with pesto sauce, caramalized onions, and Jamaican jerk chicken, and it is incredible. She's good about making it almost every time I go visit her and my dad.

I for some reason cannot access the food forum, it just doesnt appear in my list of options Sad

some great topping ideas though Smile

Its weird to think that pizza is actually considered a type of sandwich (open faced)

I personally like Buffalo Chicken, Hawaiian, four meat, and pepperoni, sausage, jalapeno pizzas. I really don't care what type of crust I get as long as it isn't soggy like those crappy frozen pizzas in the red boxes. Also plain cheese pizza is just sad, I fail to see how a plain cheese pizza can be satisfying in any way. I don't know why but I feel like people that only eat cheese pizza have no personality at all.

I was born in New Jersey, so I prefer a thin, crispy pizza, with the flavor being focused around the sauce. Unfortunately, I now live in central PA, and the style out here prefers thick, doughy bread and shitty Delgrosso's in a can. Barf.

So here's to you Mrs. Robinson. People love you more- oh, nevermind.

Pizza doesn't get any better than Giordano's in Chicago. I am from W. Michigan though, and we have the opposite of Giordano's in Fricano's (super thin, smaller pizzas that normal people can eat 2-3 of).

My favorite would have to be a deep-dish sausage and bell pepper with some crushed red pepper and Parmesan.

Or Schlotzsky's BBQ Chicken & Jalapeño pizza.

Now I want pizza....... Sad

St. Louis style thin crust with provel cheese and a side of toasted raviolis.

You haven't lived until you have had a pizza with provel and toasted ravs. STL tradition baby.

I order buffalo chicken, Hawaiian, meat lovers or something more simple like plain old cheese or pepperoni usually, but I'll eat pretty much any kind that isn't loaded with peppers, tomatoes or broccoli. As for places to get it from, I agree that local beats chain; Kendall Pond, a place out where I live, makes the best everything really but their pizza especially. I do really like Bertucci's even though it's a chain (and I'm not sure how widespread of one) and I eat Lil' Caesar's more than I'd like to admit because five dollars for a pizza when you're frequently broke is nothing to sneeze at. However, if I eat it after eight or so, I get WICKED heartburn because I'm one hundred and eighty.
