Thanks to various new sources, the video has exceeded 2 million views and I picked up over 300 new subscribers so far. Smile It's a shame some of my other videos haven't exploded to this degree (particularly the Mega Man 1 through 3 full game perfect runs). It's still cool, though. I'm actually considering going for a 500 point run which requires a brutally difficult maneuver.

How accurate do you have to be for the wall jump? To the tenth of a second? Hundredth?

After some testing, I've found that the moment of the initial jump, the duration of the jump, and the timing of the wall jump are all frame perfect. So, perfection is required to the precision of 1/60 of a second 3 times. Also, the trick won't work if I just start running from any location for whatever reason. I've pinpointed at least one starting spot (to the pixel) from where I've managed to accomplish the maneuver a bunch of times in practice.

Edit: After some more testing and research I have learned that along with starting at the right pixel, I also need to have the right x-subpixel. The x-subpixel value ranges from 00 to F0 and is increased by as little as 10 for each frame you hold right. Once the x-subpixel value rolls over, Mario will move 1 pixel to the right. This can be seen if you tap right a couple times while standing still. You'll typically remain in the same spot for a few taps but you'll eventually inch forward a pixel. For the successful wall jump at hand, I've determined the x-subpixel can range from 40-B0. The window is at least reasonable, but it's still very possible to be aligned in the exact right spot visually and have the jump be impossible if the x-subpixel is a little too high or low.

In summary, that jump is a bitch.

If you're seriously considering this, you may want to consider recording your hands/grips/claws/grapplers on the input device. Maybe even get the screen on frame. Anything to prevent out ries of tool-assist abuse, I would think - probably not completely possible but I imagine many will make accusations.

Best of luck and don't go mad in the attempt, bud. 1/60th three times? That's 1/216,000. And that's just ridonkulous. Shocked

Did it! Though I did die once on 8-1 from missing the jump. I actually managed not to screw up on the first time I managed to pull it off in a run. I think my heart almost blew up.

Video tomorrow.

I am very impressed, as usual. Congratulations! Consider this your first video response.

I think we need to have a Bizarro NES and/or SNES Championship where Not Sure is the only participant, and we all conjure up some stupid tough challenges.

Seriously, well done. What is next?

Edit: I am literally watching the Sochi Olympics right now but am more impressed with Not Sure's feat of astonishment than anything the athletes are doing.

Oh sure, die once just to show us you're "not cheating". You think we're gonna fall for that!?

Just kidding, you're amazing in every way. One day when your feats are in some video game museum somewhere, I can tell my grandkids I used to Swapnote penis drawings with that guy.

I saw the news of a player getting the lowest ever score and thought, "Man, they're all like two years late." I didn't suspect such a thing happened so soon.

So I saw this when I was bored and reading some stuff on Yahoo:

I can only assume the Dalai Lama's key to joy is watching Not Sure achieve video game greatness.

Since that post will have aging problems.

Edit: embarassing Ninja'd.

Not Addendum: So yeah, 3 frame perfect things to do in the same action. With that, maybe you could do a run of Kid Icarus Uprising's solo mode with a 100V (absolutely NO mods, positive OR negative) Skyscraper Club on 9.0, no powers as well. I would just love, LOVE to see somebody actually fulfill that given chapters like 12 (RESET BOMB!), 20 (CENTURION CHEAP ATTACK!) and 21 (CHAOS KIN!). No Damage and anything involving scoring are both optional to preserve sanity.

Actually Addendum: Just to cover the club alternatives:
*Ore - non-minimum shot speed, non-minimum mobility
*Babel - bigger shots, I believe
*Atlas - considerable mobility, considerable shot speed
*Earthmaul - considerable shot speed
*Ogre - considerable mobility (otherwise, the projectile SUCKS)
*Halo - non-minimum shot speed
*Black - non-minimum mobility, Shot Cancel
*Capricorn - considerable shot speed
*Aurum - considerable shot speed
*Hewdraw - non-minimum shot speed
*Magnus - considerable mobility (otherwise, the projectile has low reach)

So yeah, the only possibilities for an alternative are Babel which I'm actually not sure on, Black if the better Shot Cancel for the neutral shot isn't that much of an advantage, Ogre if the garbage power shots outpaces the mobility, and Magnus if the range problems outpace the mobility. Any of them could be more fitting for the purposes of this, though, but I never know.
