I have no idea how this movie went undetected by me, but I just found out about this last night from a friend. It is (loosely) based on the war of the Titans and the Greek myth of Theseus and the Minotaur. Henry Cavill (from the Tudors and also the next Superman movie that will be released) stars as Theseus and Mickey Rourke is King Hyperion. Anyways, here is the trailer, which looks pretty awesome.

Can't watch the trailer at the moment, but is the movie from the guy who made 300? If so it looked more of the same, but I really liked 300, so that's a good thing.

I think it is from the same producers as 300, not sure about anything else.

I like to call it 302. I'm going to wait until it comes out on DVD.

It was an action movie, so those of us secure in our sexuality had no issue watching it. Spartans fought in that attire, and I didn't find it odd or uncomfortable to watch myself.
I liked 300 a lot; thought it did a great job bringing the graphic novel to the screen. One of the few times the movie was better than the book.
I agree though; that sex scene with Lena Headey was sooooooo gay.

i just hated all the extra crap they added to the movie and the over abundance of slow-mo in ALL action sequences.

Yeah, that was pretty much my only gripe with the flick. I like Kung-Fu movies, and 300 was literally the opposite of that. Every stab, slice, punch was in sloooow moootioooon.

Bumping this cause I saw the movie this morning. Visually very impressive but several scenes seemed ripped straight from 300. It also abused the slo-mo for some of the fighting as well. I think I enjoyed 300 more.
Anyone else seen it?

I'd give it a solid C.
It was definitely no threat to 300. When something is filmed in that style of film now, in teh same era, using characters and plot the way they do, they're going to get comparisons.
The story resembled classic Greek storytelling though, with gods interferring in the affairs of men even though it may be best not to. Our recalling of the Battle of the 300 would definitely need a rewrite if Psioden decided to take some liberties at their shorelines.
The Deux de Machina element is there from classic playwrights too. Sophocles and Eripides would be good sources for that in their plays. If you have no idea what I'm talking about with that the film certainly puts that kind of plot resolution into action, so you'll figure it out
It was an OK film. I felt it was missing something.
