I'm going to undergo writing a massive article that encompasses everything great and interesting about Gamecube. Please post things you think are important to include in it. Please write whether it should be a new section (I, II) or a subsection (1,2,3,4). Also, if you can think of a better way to order sections let me know.

What I have in mind so far:
I. The System
1. The console
-aesthetics
-system specs
-Controller (+gba controller)
-accessories (gba player, broadband, etc)
2. Launch
-Launch date and launch games
3. Prototypes?
-early console and controller

II. The Games
1. The Big 3 (Mario, Metroid, and Zelda)
2. Resident Evil franchise (The mature franchise)
3. The Capcom 5 (Viewtiful Joe, Dead Phoenix, killer7, PN03, Resident Evil 4)
4. Exclusive games that made the system (i.e. F-Zero GX, Eternal Darkness, Cubivore, etc.)
5. Third Party Support
-Tri-Force Arcade (Nintendo, Sega, Namco)
-Using Nintendo characters in 3rd party games (Mario in EA games, Link in SC2)
-Third parties (i.e. Konami) giving Nintendo the shaft.

III. Perception, Marketing, and The Community
1. The Press
-kiddie
-teh doomed and third party (started by the EGM rumormill iirc)
2. Marketing Campaigns & Community
-Born to Play, Who Are You?, Too Much Fun
-Lake Hyrule Summer Camp
-Reggie
3. Playing it Safe (sticking to heavy to franchises to make sales)
4. All Gamecube bundles
-Metroid Prime bundle, special edition Cubes, etc.

IV. The Competition
1. Nintendo versus Sony versus Microsoft
-Sales numbers
-Microsoft buying up Nintendo stock forcing Nintendo to buy up more of their own
2. Metroid Prime 2 versus Halo 2 marketing campaign
3. Rare's departure

V. Conclusion
1. The Death of Gamecube
-Total Sales
-Total Money Made

If I remember correctly, Nintendo also did a street team promotional gig where they would have people for nintendo get in a van and drive around to malls, events and other deals. It was also like a competition for different regions, northeast, southeast, etc.

In fact here's an article on it: http://www.gaming-age.com/news/2002/7/1-2

I remember them doing a concert series with like My Chemical Romance, Lostprophets, and Evanescence to promote the Gamecube. And Gamecube commercials featuring an Andrew WK song.

Also, don't forget to mention Soul Calibur 2.

I liked South Parks tribute to it. The Okama Gamesphere.

How about the Starfox games? Both were controversial and(at least in my mind) underrated.

I'll be talking about all exclusive games on the system.

What exactly was controversial about the StarFox games? I remember penny arcade forums discussion on Assault as a mediocre game. I don't really remember people saying it was really good. It didn't seem that hot to me in my brief playtime with it. I was really surprised Namco's Ace Combat team couldn't do the game justice like Sega did for F-Zero.

Adventures was a boring collect-a-thon.
