I enjoyed both. I played morrowind before I played oblivion and I loved it but I personaly I would have to say oblivion is my favorite but mostly because I modded oblivion heavily and I used the toolkit to fill in the massive forests of nothingness with more interesting stuff to do and see. After playing oblivion I just couldnt get into morrowind again, partly because of the crappy combat and voice overs are a big thing for me now, even if its the stupid voice acting of oblivion. I would need to mod morrowind alot to be able to get into it again I think.

I have only played Morrowind, but I though the game had a lot of potential with an awesome world with lots of great lore and interesting things going on, however the combat system just killed it for me, and the game was so frecking slow. I spent several evenings only to gain one level, which I just don't have the time to continue doing unfortunately. Would love a Morrowind Turbo though

I feel like Morrowind is superior in most areas. Oblivion wasn't a fully open world which forced them to remove some of my favorite spells from Morrowind to keep you from jumping over city walls rather than going through the gates and being forced to load. That said I've never beaten Morrowind because I never played the story since it was so easy to just make up your own in that game. Oblivion you kind of end up forced into the Oblivion gate story line when they start spawning all over the world.
Probably my biggest gripe is the fact that Oblivion has that leveling system from hell. Bandits ambush you on the road and one or two shot you because you took acrobatics like in Morrowind and spent all your time jumping around to level quickly only to get ambushed by a bandit wielding a glass sword in full glass armor. It just sucked, and even after someone made a mod to even it out a bit that shit still kind of aggravated me. I like how they did it in New Vegas and Morrowind where there is shit that will fuck you up in certain areas but there will always be wimpy little things around too no matter what level you are. Honestly Oblivion can be beaten really easily between level one and three because the monsters are so weak between those levels that you never encounter anything you can't beat with a fireball spell and some kiting giving you no reason to ever level up.

The most common things brought up with arguments between these games is the crappy auto leveling of Oblivion vs the crappy combat of Morrowind. I put dozens of hours into Morrowind even though the combat frustrated me to no end, and with Oblivion, I never even noticed the auto leveling until I read someone complaining about it online. I also thought the forests of Oblivion were a lot of fun to traverse and most times I would walk them rather than fast travel just to immerse myself in the game more. I never used any mods in either game and I think adding more stuff within the forest sounds like a cool idea, however it would have a negative effect if it added too much and gave you something every twenty feet.
Either way my vote goes for Oblivion....except when it comes to music. Morrowind takes that hands down.

Yeah, the music in Morrowind was epic. To bad it looped really fast.

I loved Morrowind's setting and storytelling. The absolutely brilliant mix of text and voice acting was perfect too. And yes, that music...oh my god that music. On the other hand, the pure gameplay and RP opportunities were much better in Oblivion.
In short, when I want to be told a great story in an amazing world, I play Morrowind.
When I want to set off and make my own story, I play Oblivion.

I only recently finished Oblivion, and haven't played any of the others. Oblivion took me an inordinately long amount of time to get into, with about a year passing before I picked my copy back up and played it all the way through. I felt as if the story took too long to actually pick up the pace. Plus, scamps are a bitch when you're a low level player. I had the hardest time trying to kill them in the Kvatch Oblivion gate.

Currently working on a novel-sized post (otherwise known as an Alow-sized post), but let's just say I liked Morrowind a million times over Oblivion.
