Hating Halo 1 is unamerican. I'd give you one lan party and you'd be all about it, like Casey Anthony on a baby.

I'd say:
Megaman (all of them)
Call of Duty
Gears of War
Halo (other than the second one)
Castlevania (all of them)
Resident Evil 4 and 5
Pretty much every popular fighting game (the Street Fighter series, Mortal Kombat, and Tekken among others.)
I'm sure there are more but it would take some serious effort to find other games I despise.

I disagree, it got fairly good reviews from both critics and players and being basically a Gears of War clone probably helped that. I would say it is popular enough to qualify for this list.

halo 1 & 2 were both uber fun. halo 1 introduced me to xbox lan parties. and halo 2 showed the validity of xbox live.

Yeah, I agree on Mega Man. I can play 'em, and I get their place in video game history, but they just aren't fun to me.

Hating Halo 1 is only un-American if you were too poor, lazy, or completely naive to have played Team Fortress Classic, Quake III, Unreal Tournament, or any of the dozens of other PC games that supported ZOMG MASSIVE MULTIPLAYER long before Halo.
Halo 1 is EASILY the worst of the Halos if for no other reason than its single player campaign is so incredibly shitty. The level design for the story campaign is fucking awful and anyone who says otherwise is either deluded or fucking stupid. Look at GoldenEye. It had super fun multiplayer and a super fun single player mode. Halo 1 offers both modes, but only one is actually even remotely fun. In fact, Halo 1 is almost singlehandedly responsible for the shift in console FPS games from having awesome story modes to have sloppy story modes, because fuck you, consumer. We don't need to make a good game. Drunken casual gaming frat boys will buy anything that has multiple player and is rated M.

These aren't games that I necessarily hate, they're just games that I haven't played and have no interest in ever playing:
Baldur's Gate
Elder Scrolls
Dragon Age
Call of Duty
Medal of Honor
Battlefield
Brothers In Arms
Tom Clancy's Whatever
Any EA Sports game
Uncharted
Gran Turismo
Need For Speed
Gears Of War
Mass Effect

Haha, lots of hate here. I will give a few as well:
Earthworm Jim. The music and graphics are good, and the premise is fun enough, but the terrible controls, and annoying leveldesign, makes this total garbage in my opinion.
The Tekken-games. I know instantly that if somebody likes Tekken they are a n00b who never played games before the PS1-era. The games does not have any depth to them at all compared to far superior fighters like Street Fighter or Virtua Fighter, and were only popular for their flashy 3D-graphics. So glad to see that they are no longer relevant.
God of War - A mindless brawler who gets a lot of popularity from teenagers who believe they are mature to play a game with blood and sex (and who probably think Mario is too "kiddie" for them). The series has decent boss-fights, but there is really nothing special here compared to more complex action games like DMC or compared to deeper action-adventuregames like Zelda.
Half-Life - Its a decent game, but nowhere near as great as people make it out to be, and has not aged particulary well. The so-called "deep" story basicly consist of Morgan Freeman killing lots of aliens with a crowbar while G-Man somehow wonders around with intentions you never get to know, and the gameplay is basic shooter, linear shooterstuff that plays well, but nothing special.
GTA - Yeah, these games are fun for five minutes, until you tire of making mayhem and try to play through the terrible story-modes. Another overhyped series in my opinion.

I'd play that game.
I hate:
FFVIII and FFX
Halo (all of 'em)
Katamari Damacy
Tekken (all of 'em)
any rhythm game (Parappa, Guitar Hero, etc)
Every RTS ever
any game with an "urban" theme (aka ghetto)

Yeah well, that was a bit of an exaggeration on my part, but there is no doubt that Tekken has lost the status as the number 1 fighting game-franchise that it enjoyed during the PS1 and PS2-years. Street Fighter 4 has been a much bigger success than the most recent Tekkens, and hopefully that trend will continue in the future. Sad to see Virtua Fighting collapsing though.

I have games i hate and games that i'm just not that interested in - maybe hate is too strong, in some cases of games i just hate the fanbases.
Games i dislike:
Mass Effect
Call of Duty
Most Sport Games by EA - buy one, you own them all
Resident Evil 4
I hate the WoW fanbase so much, the SC one to a lesser degree.

Left 4 Dead wasn't too exciting for me. I wouldn't say I hated the game, but it was just uninteresting.
As a long-time Gears of War player, I will freely admit that the game is unpopular to many people.

Metal Gear (whole series, from NES to MGS4)- The early games were clunky and dull, while the new games have the most atrocious, bloated writing. This sucks because the gameplay of the Metal Gear Solid games is usually pretty fun with neat quirks, but I can't get over having 5 minutes of gameplay sandwiched between 10 minute codec/cutscene sequences. It's bad, and if you think it's good, I'm glad I don't have your taste.
Any JRPG that "gets better after 10-20 hours." Final Fantasy 1-7/9, The Dragon Warriors that I played, and Legend of Dragoon were all good right away. Any game that takes two smaller games to "get good" is made by developers with their heads up their asses.
Anything id made after Romero left (can't speak for Rage)- Rip on John for making Daikatana, but at least it some goddamned imagination in it. In retrospect, it looked like John was the most creative person there, and everyone else knew how to use that creativity to make a decent game.
King's Quest (All that I've played)- I don't like adventure games where you can fuck yourself over by not picking up an item so that you have to start the game over. There's no challenge, no puzzle solving, and no skill in not seeing some random, apparently-useless item tucked away.
Also, tater, I agree with you on God of War, except for the first one. In God of War 1, Kratos was much better written, and he turned out to actually be really disgusted with his own violent nature. I won't ruin the ending, but the game came out against the random violence and bloodlust of the main character in a memorable way. Sadly, once David Jaffe left, it pretty much just became retarded action-fest with a completely unlikable main character.

- The Street Fighter series. I like to watch them sometimes for competitive play, but I only care about casual play because I don't have a ton of time to waste to try being good.
They're not games you can just pick up and play. Well, you can, it's just boring as fuck as you can't seem to do anything.
- Dragon Warrior II. For some reason many DW fans like it, praising it's very high difficulty and such. But it's only hard because the gameplay is such a fucking piece of shit, and leveling up doesn't seem to do a whole lot as damage dealt/received is almost more random than stat-based.
- Grand Theft Auto series.
- Gradius series
- Mario Kart 64. I don't hate it, but for how popular it is, I was kinda disappointed. I had way more fun with Crash Team Racing, even in multiplayer.

Well EXCUUUUUUUSE ME Princess! I never got into PC gaming, and I liked having 6-8 people in two seperate rooms talking shit in between rounds and actually conversing with friends, running into the next room and yelling at them during a match saying "YOU GOT FUCKED UP!"

God of War and all its sequels
Fighting games in general. Nothing inherently wrong with them, but they're not a genre I've ever enjoyed or been any good at. I'll count SSB as an exception.
Final Fantasy X and V. I'm a huge fan of most of the franchise, but these two sucked. I'd get into some of the ones that came after X, but I'm not sure they'd qualify as games that everyone loves
The Mega Man and Mega Man X franchises. Eventually, it feels like you're playing the same game too many times. Mega Man II I enjoy because it was the first one I played and I love both X and X4, but other than that, I could do without these games.
Any of the Halo games. I enjoy playing LAN Halo and shit talking my friends, but outside of that specific circumstance, the games never appealed to me.
Mario Kart. I fucking hate the rebound mechanic. If I do well in a racing game, I want to be rewarded for it, not punished. Some of the entries are damn near unplayable because of this.

Totally. CTR for the win
Resident Evil 5 was a huge letdown after 4
I adore Half-Life 2, but the original was never my cup of tea.
