Guy built not only a perpetual motion machine, but it also creates an excess of power.

Quote:
While the patent office will register different parts of the AOGFG, they won't allow the machine as a complete item to be patented.

Because it is claimed it produces more energy than it consumes, it is considered to be a perpetual motion machine which is the holy grail of scientists the world over.

The patent office will not allow patents on perpetual motion machines as they break the first law of thermodynamics. This states that energy can be changed from one form to another, but cannot be created or destroyed.

The Wells Journal has seen the machine in action, and it does appear to work. The tiny motor should not be powerful enough to keep the machine turning once it is started with a light push – but it does..

If it does what it claims it does this is an amazing breakthrough, it would completely revolutionize the way things are powered in the world. Although, there is something similar already created back in 1998.

I bet that he could file a software patent for a computer generated theoretical 3D device that breaks the laws of physics and then be sued by Apple for infringing upon the iPhone 5.

In this patent office we obey the laws of thermodynamics!

Seriously, every other perpetual motion machine so far has been a hoax. I see no reason why this one wouldn't be either.

yeah seriously guys, the law of thermodynamics is not something that you just break in your basement.
Its an axiom, we hold it to be true because if it were not the entirity of human knowledge would cease to function. We don't have a model for a universe that would survive its absence.

Its a fake. Stop getting crap science news.

You don't need to be Will Smith to understand that humans don't know everything and we are constantly learning. Our truths are necessary for the present and immediate future, however if we don't assume that we will be proven wrong, we can never progress.

Something else is true about 1500 years ago, 500 years ago, and 15 minutes ago - people trying to put one over on everyone by claiming they discovered the latest scientific breakthrough.

If this were legit, patent office or not, EVERY scientist on the planet would be on this guy's doorstep. Everyone would want a look at his designs, patented or not.

I don't think GP was saying necessarily this guys machine is legit.

I think it was more directed towards Robo as in saying Nothing is Impossible. Things we think are 100% true today, could be 100% false tomorrow.

The fact that he remains anonymous would probably help deter that. Also I imagine that energy companies would fight tooth and nail to get this thing buried into obscurity, kind of like how the Cancer society would not fund nor support John Kanzius.

You find something in this day and age that would lose companies billions of dollars and you can be sure that it will never see the light of day.

If this thing works, coolio. But if it doesn't, then we can all move on. Nothing new.

If someone does succeed in breaking the laws of physics, would they have to go to trial?

I'm not a bad enough dude, but I am an edgy little shit. I'll do what I can.

Bumble bees don't break the laws of physics. It was only the first impression of the scientist.

This sounds not plausible. It's not on the news or the newspaper that one of the main problems of humanity is solved?

I bet the patent clerk will be the next world renowned scientist now.

You know if I found a way to break physics and it wasn't a bullshit hoax, I'd be on TV screaming "Suck it physics!" Since this guy isn't doing that, I don't believe it is true.

Typically you want a patent before you go screaming about how awesome your invention is. It's the difference between Millions and Billions.
