Oh, a Robert Smigel cartoon. That explains why something funny was on SNL.

Ah, good ol' SNL. Before they replaced with the sh**fest known as MAD TV.
Goood times...

At least with MadTV you can count on at least one funny skit per episode. With SNL you're lucky if you get one per season.

MadTV is played out at this point. If you think SNL has bland recurring character overload, check out MadTV. Jesus Christ, the same people have been on that show forever! No one from that show can find a better job?

While SNL usually has terrible sketches, Weekend Update is always good for some jokes.

Michael MacDonald is the only one who's been there for an excessive amount of time right now. Will Sasso, Nicole Sullivan, Alex Borstein, and Josh Meyers have moved on to other projects. Aries Spears is doing stand-up (Saw him in a Northern Chicago Suburb almost two years ago, very good show). Frank Caliendo just left, and I think he's getting work doing his impressions, while the impression dependent Darrell Hammond is still with SNL. Stephnie Weir recently left, while Debra Wilson left a while ago, but I haven't seen her do much besides VH1 specials. Meanwhile, Phil LaMarr left a long time ago and is doing lots of voice acting jobs in shows such as Futurama (which is returning) and Family Guy (I've emailed him before and he's a very nice, cordial person). Artie Lange left after only a season or two and is now on Howard Stern. So, they have been keeping the cast and regular character roster fresh; although, Stewart was old five years ago, and thankfully we don't have to see Ms. Swan anymore.
Besides, if you had a sweet gig like that with a guaranteed fat paycheck, wouldn't you stay if your chances for success outside of the show were marginal?

I miss Will Sasso. He was easily one of the best guys they ever had on the show. I could watch his Kenny Rogers and Steven Seagal bits all day.
And yeah, Stuart sucks, but Michael McDonald rules. His House impression was awesome:

Wow. Yet another good Mad TV TV show parody, because it uses all the conventions of the show it's actually poking fun at and not making them up like some sketch shows.

I set you up nicely for that joke Spanky. Thank you for hitting it out of the park.
I love the story Artie always tells on talks shows about when he was on MadTV and went to his coke dealer while wearing a Babe the Pig costume, and then snorting it off of his car key through the fake pig nose. The only thing that could improve that story is if it involved his father's ashes.
Don't make me break my foot off in your ass!
