Is it just me, or is anyone else really stoked for this one? Some of the attacks/tactics just seem all sorts of hardcore.

Freaky that this thread was started on the 23rd last year.
As for the game, I'm intrigued and want to play it, but don't have anything that could run it.

Hah, I didn't even notice.
This game looks like it's going to be a blast, and I love the whole Cyber Punk Genre. It'll be a late Birthday Present for me

Started playing this yesterday, and I have to say, so far it is Amazing.
I love the Dark Gritty story, the Slummy feeling they caught of a inner run down city, and the story so far has me gripped.
The game play is smooth and easy to master (at least on PC) and its great how there are multiple different ways to approach any situation.
You could go in Guns Blazing, Stealth by, Find an Air vent to climb through, Hack the computer and turn the turrets against their owners, Negotiate your way through. Pretty much however you want to build your character to be, there’s a way to do it.
What you decide to do in missions will affect the game play as well, in the First Mission after the Opening Credits (Minor Spoiler, doesn't affect the story dramatically) [SPOILER:7526b9ccc1]You find out one of your Company's Warehouses has been attacked and workers have been taken Hostage. You are told by your Boss to meet him at the Helicopter for briefing and to hustle there.
I assumed it was normal game lingo, took my sweet time exploring offices gathering items and whatever I could find, then I get a Call from the Boss telling me since I took too long, the Hostages were executed.[/SPOILER:7526b9ccc1]
That effected people in the game. Their Dialog changed blaming me for it and made me out to be an asshole.
Seriously, so far about 5 hours in, Great Gameplay and great story. If you liked the old Deus Ex's you'll love this one.

I hope you guys didn't get your copy at GameStop
From joystiq:
Hey, remember the free Deus Ex: Human Revolution OnLive code that comes with the retail PC version? If you bought your copy at GameStop, chances are you didn't get the code. It turns out that the retailer decided not to participate in the promotion ... by force.
GameSpy is reporting that GameStop employees received notice yesterday that they were to open new PC copies of Deus Ex and remove the free OnLive token. To repeat: GameStop employees were told to open new copies and remove contents intended to be sold with the game.
A GameStop representative confirmed to GameSpy that the company is removing the tokens, saying, "Square Enix packed the competitor's coupon with our DXHR product without our prior knowledge and we did pull and discard these coupons." Indeed, some of our own commenters claiming to be GameStop employees said the same thing in our post revealing the OnLive promotion yesterday.
Joystiq is currently investigating the issue, including the possible legal implications of tampering with a product and selling it as new.

GameStop are dicks. Not a shock.
Question: not that its going to affect whether I get the game (I will, as soon as my forced unemployment ends), but I'm curious how open world this is. Are you able to go back to places you've been before? Or are they lots of permanently missable things/missions/scenes/etc?

I got this yesterday for PS3. So far it is just fantastic.
If you enjoyed the first Deus Ex, you will absolutely love this one. The load times are almost non-existent, the world blends together so well. You can be in your office one minute then running down the street to the Police Station in 30 seconds. The Augmentation system is very detailed and lengthy and I love that. Lots of different ways to customize yourself. The stealth in this game is way more fleshed out than in the first one. Taking cover and sliding over to another spot is very satisfying.
I was worried that they were gonna take MY Deus Ex and turn it into a run and gun modern feeling shooter. Thank fuck they didn't, because it feels like the perfect sequel to the first one. I never even bothered with the second one. EXTREMELY satisfied with this game and I'm gonna take my sweet ass time with it.

having never played deus ex, I've decided that this game is absolutely fantastic. Its like a stealth game but in every area you can just opt out of the stealth and devastate them with your upgraded combat rifle and maxed out dermal upgrades/zero recoil mods.
I might actually do stealth next time. just upgrade the shit out of it until I'm completely silent and near invisible.
Also pick up the wall punch and the social mod. Best praxis you will ever spend, you'll get 1000 xp for silver tongue and there are a lot of breakable walls just chock full of goodies.
(important addition, listen to conversation in police station, get classic movie reference, like character even more)

I got my copy Via Steam.
As for your question Hawk, I really don't know yet, You start in Detroit, and I'm now in the Second Area. As of right now, I cannot get back to the first area, and in fact, before I left for the Second Area, it warned me saying all Side Missions unfinished would be canceled.
From it telling me all Side Missions would be Canceled once I moved into the Second area, I'm assuming no or something is going to happen story wise that will effect why I can't do them anymore.
The Detroit area was huge though and I did either 5 or 6 Side Quests taking me roughly 7-8 Hours to get through it. The Second Area Seems Much larger to me.

I have the Social mod, but skipped out on the Wall Punch. Damn, just spent 4 Points too.
I do have my Hacking up to lvl 5 and the Stealth Hacking Maxed. Makes it really easy and it has paid off quite a bit with extra xp, money, viruses, and whatever is hiding behind the hacked door.
I love turning Turrets/Robots against their owners too
Also, Speaking of Easter Eggs, there's a Final Fantasy XXVII Poster in the Tech Lab.

I'm really hearing a lot of positive buzz around the game (especially considering there was no hype beforehand). I've been itching for a good stealth game for a while, and I'll probably pick this up if Dead Island is no good.

I never played any of these before and have been waiting for something new after MK and Duke and Portal 2, I'll have to check this out.
I see it's on Xbox as well as Playstation, any complaints about the Xbox version like what happened with Duke?

Yes, since Deus EX has always been a PC series, to play it on Xbox would be blasphemy!

Hey, Deus Ex 2 was on Xbox. It would sometimes even run when you put the disk in.

Man I'm seriously curious, I love open ended game play and that is what this sounds like, does it run like a moldy cardboard box of cat shit sitting in the noonday sun on the 360 or is it tolerable? I Could check the internet but I want the opinions of the community that I am a part of.

Few hours in. I'm getting the feeling that this one is actually going to live up to the hype and unrealistic expectations I had. The world seems alive, story and characters are interesting, and there is a sense of freedom.

Save beer, theres a homeless lady outside that wants it. You can also pay her to give you some passwords into the police armory but if your doing it right you wont need her.

Yeah you need to give her five, homeless chick outside in Detroit.
I think it's a Pocket Secretary with some Passcodes for two storage lockers rated at lvl 4 and 5 hacking if I'm remembering correctly. Could be wrong.
EDIT: That's four beers you need to give her, not five. My bad.
