I find this amazing. I have been playing quite a few games and have purchased a large number, but it appears only two were made in 2011.

Of those two, I did not like one at all and the other I am on the fence.

- 2011 -
1. Magicka (PC) - This game was obnoxious and I wish I could get my money back.
2. Sanctum (PC) - This game is an interesting concept, but brutally difficult. I haven't had much time to put in yet.

I bought Anomaly: Warzone Earth (PC) yesterday and have high hopes for it given reviews, but I have not installed it yet.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If anyone cares about 2010:

- 2010 -
1. Darksiders (PC) - If the Zelda series got pregnant with God of War's baby, this would be the offspring
2. Assassins Creed II (PC) - The DRM is mostly gone, this game is amazingly good until [SPOILER:dbe7b587dc]the last 30 seconds or so when they go all Indiana Jones 4 on it.[/SPOILER:dbe7b587dc]
3. Just Cause 2 (PC) - I'll make the same joke as everyone else, why is it fun?... just cause. It is actually quite fun though.
4. Just Dance 2 (Wii) & Zumba Fitness (Wii)- My wife loves them and I enjoy watching her shake her ass.

I would like to point out that in 2010 the highest rated game was Mario Galaxy 2 and that it was the fourth highest rated game of all time of any system. I own it and put in a large number of hours. I simply did not enjoy the time I spent playing it. I found it to be unforgiving, frustrating, and I really hated the game mechanics for Yoshi.

1 - Radiant Historia
2 - Bastion
3 - Okamiden
4 - Ghost Trick
5 - LA Noire

I finally finished Ghost Trick. It's kick-ass.

Looking forward to playing:

So here's to you Mrs. Robinson. People love you more- oh, nevermind.

This is sad. I haven't bought a new game in 2011 (from 2011, at least). The most recent new game I bought was Shantae: Risky's Revenge when it first came out.

...but since you can now download it for the 3DS we can count it, right. Smile

After looking at this thread, I just realized that I have not completed a single game from this year. I have bought a few though, Ghost Trick, The Third Birthday, Tactics Ogre and Kirby's Epic Yarn (released in Europe this year), but have not had the time to play any of them yet.

However, I have completed quite a few games this year, so here is my totally random top ten games that I have finally completed in 2011:

10. Zack & Wiki (Wii) - great puzzle/adventuregame for the Wii. However, it would have been higher on my list if the ending puzzles had not been completely broken and extremely difficult to pull of with the Wiimote.
9. King’s Quest 3: Redux (PC) - a remake of the classic KQ3 which makes it much more playable and enjoyable.
8. Professor Layton and the Curious Village (DS) - one of the most fresh games I have played in a while, and I have already ordered the sequel.
7. Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow (GBA) - the best Igavania-game in my opinion, lets hope Igarashi is hard at work with a new game for the 3DS.
6. Ace Attorney: Phoenix Wright (DS) - The best original game I have played on the DS. This game has great humour, good writing, funny characters and awesome gameplay.
5. Final Fantasy V (GBA) - My first time trough this, and even though the story and music was sub-par in my opinion (for a 16-bit FF that is), the gameplay was the best in a FF-game I have played, which gives it fifth spot on my list.
4. Castlevania: Rondo of Blood (PSP) - This is now my favorite Castlevania-game after Super Castlevania 4. Love the branching paths, the fact that it tries to tell a more complicated story, and the extremely challening gameplay.
3. Ninja Gaiden (Nes) - I had to do it on an emulator (to avoid being thrown back to level 6-1 all the time), so its not totally legit, but I did finally get to see the ending credits in this game that has haunted me for 20 years.
2. Mega Man X (SNES) - I did beat this on an emulator many years ago, but this was the first time i beat it on the cartridge.
1. Chrono Trigger (DS) - this is actually the first time I have completed Chrono Trigger, as the game was not released in Europe back in the day, and I just got my DS Lite quite recently. Awesome game, and definitely deserved of all the praise it gets.

Faxanadu
7th Saga
Phantasy Star 2
Final Fantasy IX
Blaster Master 2

Wait, is it games you played in 2011 or games that came out in 2011? I don't think I've played a single game newer than about 10 years old.

I appreciate the enthusiasm of retro gamers, but I was indeed talking about 2011 releases.

I've only played a handful of 2011 releases.
Probably the best so far has been Portal 2 or Terraria. Other than that... I think I've played Dragon Age 2 (That came out this year right?) and it blew ass, and Dead Space 2 which was fantastic. I'm mostly waiting on Skyrim, Saints Row 3, and Diablo 3.

Shit i don't even have a top 5 for this year.

1. Portal 2 - an obvious mention was great, flawless.
2. Alice 2 - it's not the best game but i am enjoying it, though it can get a bit tedious, the platforming can get a big samey.
3. Back to the Future - i'll mention this as majority of episodes came out this year, it was good, i enjoyed the story.

That's it... i bought other games though:

DNF was a serious disappointment for reasons i mentioned in the thread.

LA Noire was a bit dull, it was just the same shit over and over, at least with Alice it's sort of mixed up. It's all the same in LA Noire. Every mission it's just find clues - and there will always be random shit thrown in which is useless as they can't just have the clues lying about and then interrogate and that's it. By the end i was just wishing for the game to end. Granted at the start it was cool like solving crimes and putting it all together but the gameplay just gets dull.

The story was good in parts, i am on the fence about the ending.

Basically all the games i had an interest in i got: Alice, Portal 2 and Duke.

There are a few games coming out this year i have a slight interest in:

Dead Island
Rage
Serious Sam 3.

Then prob not out this year:

Starcraft II: Heart of the Swarm
Doom 4.

EDIT: Oh if we are talking games which didn't come out this year as well:

I played the first Phoenix Wright game: i really enjoyed it.

No particular order:

Bulletstorm
L.A. Noire
Duke Nukem Forever
Mortal Kombat
Dino D-Day (Fuck you, it's great)

PLENTY of great games coming up, though. RAGE, Serious Sam 3: BFE, Saints Row the Third, Hard Reset (GotY dark horse, if you ask me), Skyrim, Battlefield 3, Red Orchestra 2, Uncharted 3, Gears of War 3, pretty much any 3DS game worth anticipating isn't out until later, and maybe even Timesplitters 4.

From what I've been playing of Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet, I think it's going to be in my top 3 for the year so far, pushing out Crysis 2. Can't wait to see what El Shaddai is like.

Hard Reset looks interesting, not only as a cool sci-fi shooter, but also due to its ad campaign, where instead of desperately trying to stay relevant for over a year with constant media, it just hits for a few months straight before release.

I can get your disinterest in Bulletstorm, Slayer. It's definitely not for everyone. I enjoyed the single-player and perfecting my Echo scores, then put the game down for a while. Now that I've got friends playing multiplayer with me, I can't put anything else in my console. I like the idea of Horde mode-style gameplay that eventually ends. Also, I think General Serrano might be one of my favorite VG villains ever [/i]

So here's to you Mrs. Robinson. People love you more- oh, nevermind.
