http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/lookout/job-listings-unemployed-not-apply-133143362.html
"Hundreds of job opening listings posted on Monster.com and other jobs sites explicitly state that people who are unemployed would be less attractive applicants, with some telling the long-term unemployed to not even bother with applying.
The New York Times' Catherine Rampell said she found preferences for the already employed or only recently laid off in listings for "hotel concierges, restaurant managers, teachers, I.T. specialists, business analysts, sales directors, account executives, orthopedics device salesmen, auditors and air-conditioning technicians." Even the massive University of Phoenix stated that preference, but removed the listings when the Times started asking questions."
It goes on to say more. As someone scraping by with a temp agency, this really pisses me off.

It sucks, but let's not blame Monster.com for this. Blame the companies who are putting it in their listings.
And it's nothing new, they're just saying it up front. Companies have always preferred people who are already working to people who are not. It's harsh, It sucks, and it should stop. Being unemployed isn't nearly as important as the reason you're unemployed.

Monster.com never help me get any of my jobs. So they are worthless to me anyway.

Exactly a temp agency is more of a better choice than monster.

Monster sold my email address to a bunch of online universities!
Temp agencies will get you exposure to a lot of different stuff, you'll find something you like and have an opportunity to stay at, just takes time. Sometimes a lot. Hang in there!

Syracusehelpwanted.com, JobFox.com, Beyond.com all did the same thing. I keep getting E-Mails and phone calls from these schools I just don't want to deal with. Everytime I get a call I say take me of the list, they call again...

I had to just start fresh with a new one. Although they did get me the job I have now in a round a bout third party sort of way, and I've been employed for almost six years so it all balances out I guess.
