I don't know if this has been done before, but I thought perhaps forum members could share the stories behind their usernames, or other reasoning involved in choosing their name here on the forums.
I got my name from something my father used to say when I was growing up. He would wake me in the morning and say, "Time to get up and at 'em, Jack." That, years later, when he died, became atomjack, which then became atomjacked. I sometimes use the variants @om*, @om*d and @Ω*D.

I originally wanted to put my name as Viktor, but I forgot my password and I just went with the first artist that I would pick randomly off of my Windows Media Player... Plus God listens to Slayer, I just added the 1 because I am.. Number 1!

I do think it has been done before, but I'm too lazy to look it up, so... :O
Here's mine, ctrl C ctrl V from my sydapedia page:
"The story behind this nick is a little bit long, but you're reading the sydapedia, so I assume you have some time to waste (Well, you would be if you were reading this where it was originally posted, anyways). My nickname used to be Enzo_Lions, because it was the name of this elf mage I used to play on DnD (Hey, the people I play with can't speak english all that well, they thought Lions was a cool name. Also, I was 14, gimme a break). I used to play some online games with this girl named Sekhmet (Yes, it's the name of an Egyptian lady god, I know), and since we used to share accounts to level faster, we fused the nicks together, in the lovely mashed-up weird jumble of letters that is now this nick. The girl suddenly disappeared one day, but Enzo (Now Sehkmaenzo) kept the accounts, and with them the nickname. it's now nine years later, and the games have come and gone, but the nick stayed, 50% because he had grown used to the name, 50% because he hoped they would meet again someday in the future, and have a quasi-romantic fateful encounter. But, to be fair, he really doesn't hope for that, because she was as ugly as a mutt eating sour candy."
Yep, I stole it :O

Saying the origin of your username is a secret is lame. It would have been better to make something up and point people in the wrong direction. I tried searching but could not find anything. Perhaps someone else could assist.

That's a pretty cool origin. I must confess to believing it was pronounced as "atomstarred" during your first few appearances.
Mine isn't quite as interesting, seeing as my last name is Prenger. A high school friend gave me the nickname one day, and it pretty much stuck.
Additionally, I decided to use it for my Xbox Live gamertag in hopes to stick out from the legions of xXx420SnIpEs187xXx folks out there - something short and legible would stick out, right? Ironically, this kind of backfired as almost everyone on mispronounces my name as Prong.
Remember, folks, Preng is a nice gentleman who enjoys porters and spending way too much time on homework. Prong is a band.

I'm guessing the origin of your van started right around this time.

I just took it from a Japanese Transformer that is a repaint/remold of Scorponok from G1 here. I just like the character in general, but I suppose it's also an indication that I'm not just A Transformers fan, but THAT Transformers fan. The kind that can identify parts from random photos and knows weird things like how Daniel became Arcee's Headmaster in Japan. Erhm..

I had a Japanese internet penpal (email pal? MSN Messenger Pal? whatever) over three years back who I learned most of my casual Japanese and slang from. One day I asked him to give me a Japanese name he thought suited me, and after some thought he gave me Aika. In Japanese it's rendered as 愛華 and essentially means "love flower." He even gave me a surname too, 酒井, which reads as sakai and means "wine field."
I started using it as an internet handle because I wasn't creative enough to come up with something on my own. In retrospect it makes me look like one hell of a Japanophile, which I swear I'm not. And, for the record, no, I am not Japanese or in any way Asian. Someone asked me that recently and it made me laugh.

Uhm, pretty obvious. Joined the forum when I was avidly into Mega Man, thought someone might have already been using that name, so I just used a 3 for the e and capitalized all the letters.

My online name basically was something that I thought up randomly when registering an account for this site. Since then, TheUnknown907 (or just TheUnknown) has become my usual online name. I might consider asking Syd for a name change.

You won't find any info about it online, since I've never posted it and there's no reason Syd would have. Also, my name's origin is actually 3 stories, not one, starting all the way back in 1996.
