My friends are worthless assholes, so I'm turning to the bright minds of Sydlexia. Currently I have put everything in my life on hold (Show, Website, New Store) and am attending PSU to finish up my MIS degree, with a major focus on the programming side so I can avoid paying for someone to develop a website and so I can handle the more indepth business side of things. (Thats the explanation as to why I am at school)
So anyways, today was the last day of class for the semester and there was this girl in class (Speech class)...Beautiful...Never really had a conversation with her though, but I made her laugh a lot. So I was going to ask her out or some jazz, but I didn't want to make things awkward because we would later have to give speeches in front of the class. So I decided to wait until after she gave her final speech of the class.
So she gives her speech and the teacher asks her and her group to stay after so she can critque her/group speech. Never had a chance to ask her out. I know she's single because after much reluctance I looked her up on Facebook. (Kind of stalkerish I know...) I'm probably never going to see her again, but I know it's gonna eat away at me if I don't do something.
Basically would sending her an e-mail or contacting her on Facebook be a bad/good idea. I don't wanna regret not seeing what could have been you know? But I also don't want to be labeled as a freak. I know none of you are girls, but would do something similar completely different?

If you you try and get shot down ... oh well.
If you don't try, you will wonder for the rest of your life: "What if?"

Yeah, contact her on her MySpace or Facebook or whatever. That's not really stalkerish at all. People expect you to look them up on these sites and will add even the most casual acquaintance. I would say:
1. Try and add her on Facebook, she will almost definitely accept if for no other reason than to increase her friend count
2. Start a conversation with her, because you shouldn't add someone and then immediately ask them out
3. Ask her out

i agree. The point of myspace and facebook are to keep in touch with people. Just add her casually and start from there. Ask if shes gonna continue taking classes at the school if so what classes etc etc.

So I should avoid the "I really wanted to ask you out, but couldn't find the right time." e-mail...lol is there like an appropriate time frame I should wait before adding her? Like a week a day? I know the guy code with Phone numbers but I don't know the rules with cyber conversation.
Knyte~That is exactly my point I don't want to wonder what if for the rest of my life

No time. Just be like you were cool and stuff and i wanted to chat or something. If you guys start to talk maybe bring up wanting to ask her out. But doing it fast might be a bit weird to some girls.

she'll probably respond with something like "whatever happens, I just wanted you to know that I'm glad I got into that car with you."

yeah. add her whenever. you might want to send her a message first before adding her, just to make sure she knows who you are. not at 2am though, on a weekend. cause then it'll seem like some sort of weird drunken thing.

I wouldn't jump right away into "I didn't have the sack to ask you out in person but I'll do it online". erock makes a good point; start out slow and gather some momentum.
Don't wait too long though because while you're tip-toeing around it someone who actually sees her on a daily/weekly basis may make a move. Maybe ask her out for a drink/coffee/lunch if she's still going to be in your vicinity. This way, it won't seem like a "date" so much as "meeting someone from class". You can always make your intentions known once you see her and interact with her; otherwise you may come off as a bit of a pussy.

Thou, because I am wroth, be not dismayed, for I shall win the strife, whoever circle round within for the defence. This their insolence is not new, for of old they used it at a less secret gate, which still is found without a bolt. Above it thou didst see the dead inscription; and already on this side of it
descends the steep, passing without escort through the circles,
One such that by him the city shall be opened to us. |

Wow, what the hell are the odds? I go to PSU (University Park) too. Of course I grew up from like 10 miles away from the campus.

Probably safer that way. I'm not that into Penn State football myself (Notre Dame fan), but the student body here is downright scary with the shit they pull concerning football. Threw bottles at opposing fans for one... it's pretty disgraceful at times.
Also sucks how the branch campuses catch shit from the UP students. I'm not even sure why that happens. I'm a grad student here, so I claim independence from the crazy contingent of the undergrads.

I have an old prof from Delaware who works at OSU now, I may drive out there to chill with him (different dynamic in Master's programs.. you get to drink with your profs) and a few other buddies... hopefully the drive won't be so bad.
Then again, I've driven from Jersey (home) to GA (girlfriend's current home) a few times, and lived to tell the tale.
Make any decisions on your lady friend?

Well I pretty much ruled out the "I didn't have the stones..." email, and I think once finals are over for me, Tuesday, I am going to add her on Facebook and see what develops. I know shes a biology major because she was talking to another group member I was working with about it, so I won't be running into her anytime after this semester. Why is this kind of stuff so easy for other people? I think I think to much...

Douche,
Don't stress over it.
The less you care, the better your chances.
You still need to take action, but don't worry about the results so much. You have NOTHING to lose. In fact, pure rejection would probably be helpful since it would be an answer.
Odd little coincidence here. You are going for an MIS degree. I work for an IT department as a technician within a major University. You like a girl who is a Biology major. My office is located on the 2nd floor of the Biology building which I handle technical support for.
Only problem is that I am at the wrong University. Couple hundred miles too far north.

*raises hand* I'm a girl (and go figure, this is my first post here...)
I would not be weirded out at all if a guy I had a class with looked me up on Facebook or Myspace and added me or something. Just be sure to tell her where you know her from, or else it's odd to have some random person friending you. Be like "I'm a dude that had that speech class with you n I thought you were pretty cool" or something equally generic. Spend some time chatting back n forth n then suggest meeting up for something (coffee, movie, etc).
Different girls are flattered by different things, so I can't say what will work for her, just what I know works for me and and what I know my friends like.
As previously mentioned tho, don't pussy-foot around and wait too long, or else it does seem kinda stalkerish. "I'm that guy you had speech class with a year ago..." just comes off as a little weird. Do it when you're still in the "yea I saw you last week" stage.
