I know what happened to the woman was a tragedy and everything, but something tells me that if she was LaTrecia Giffords and not Gabrielle that we wouldn't be hearing anything about her as of now. My real concern is, what's going on that they're using her as a smokescreen for.

You read into shit way too much buddy. I like ya, but not everything is worth getting riled up over, nor is everything a conspiracy.

I don't really think it's a conspiracy, but I definitely think it's a MPWG situation as far as the attention on her goes. And I wasn't trying to say, "Oh God, they shot Gabrielle Giffords to hide, I don't know, the wikileaks drop about Gitmo" or anything like that. I just wonder sometimes as to whether the preponderance of attention surrounding her is more a result of our 24/7 news media or because there's a hand in a cookie jar somewhere that needs a little coverage. It wouldn't be the first time, you know. I try to be discerning about things like that, because I know it's easy to find 'hidden hands' if you suspect them everywhere. I was just positing kind of a personal opinion at this point.

I understand that and I definitely wasn't trying to insult you in anyway. I hope it didn't come out that way. I just things like that can be looked at in a way more simple way. Like person gets shot, that persons party gains more attention and sympathy because of it. I don't see what else there could be to it. "Politicians take advantage of situation, SHOCKING!"

Until this happened. I did not know her Husband was an Astronaut, and will be Mission Commander of the scheduled April 29th flight.
Fun fact of the day kids.

I wasn't sure either, so I just put something factual and knowledgeable into the mix.

No, I didn't take it as an insult at all, I know that I'm a bit of a digger as far as things like that go. I was more just positing that if she'd been, say, Maritza Giffords or something, again, it'd be different, but yeah, I'm not stunned at all with the political brou-haha that it turned into, not in the least. It's one of the reasons I got rid of cable, now I'm just going to focus on blocking all content that doesn't appeal to me online.

We hear about Gabrielle Giffords and not "LaTrecia" or "Jamal" Giffords because she is a public figure and it's fairly rare when a politician in this country gets shot. That makes it big news.
The end.

I think you misunderstood what I'd intimated. It's not that "LaTrecia" and "Jamal" Giffords are ignored on a day to day basis (although let's be fair, they are). I was just saying that, were Gabrielle Giffords not a nice little WASP, that the coverage on her would've died a slow death by now. This happens more often than you'd think.

Your last post tells me I completely understood your initial point. And in response I say:
"We hear about Gabrielle Giffords and not "LaTrecia" or "Jamal" Giffords because she is a public figure and it's fairly rare when a politician in this country gets shot. That makes it big news."
You also intimated that the press or somebody must be hiding something by focusing on this. Again, this is news because she's a public figure.
If she were a black politician that was shot in the head and then spent the following months fighting to recover, we would hear about it all over the place as well. Giffords' race has nothing to do with this, nor does a link about missing white women.
PUBLIC FIGURE GETTING SHOT = BIG NEWS.

Yeah, we aren't retarded high schoolers and we know that white people tend to get more news coverage then minorities, you don't have to drive that point home anymore because I think everyone agrees with it. I don't think that has anything to do with this story though, man.
This is a completely different situation than a Hispanic girl getting kidnapped and getting no news coverage, you are blending the situation way too much.

I guess I did blend things a little too much there. Still, I'll be interested in seeing if, God forbid, a scenario like it plays out differently how it's handled. Point taken, though, Klimb. Back to monitoring the abnormally high radiation count for Reactor Four at Fukushima.

Someone got shot? Big surprise. I haven't heard of this at all. Nor do I care, in all honesty.

A couple of pictures have been released of Giffords, who quite honestly doesn't look too bad after getting shot in the head.

Yeah, I saw her pictures on the news. I think it's strange that they waiting till now to show us pictures, like they're trying to divert our attention. Makes me wonder, what is this a smokescreen for?

this just in (3 months ago): tilonda ebonica kyles arrested for forgery
http://www.jailbase.com/en/arrested/ga-fcso/2011-03-02/tilonda-ebonica-kyles-1107419
conclusion: despite popular belief the JFK assassination was a conspiracy and he has been living under this alias for 48 years (the transformation from JFK to youthful ebonica cost billions of our tax dollars). He got caught due to a botched signature so they had to arrest him in order to prevent further leakage and now we'll never know the truth for sure
proof: look closely at the mole they were unable to remove during the transformation for unexplained reasons
