1. Civilization (not any particular one I've enjoyed them all and put plenty of hours into them all except revolution because I prefer the computer :O)

The only condition I placed upon myself, is only one game from any series allowed. So, there are some games, like Final Fantasy VI That I would have placed on this list ahead of some higher pics, but if I did that then the whole list would be mostly nothing but Final Fantasy, MGS, and RoTTK games.

Also doing it in a visual box-art theme.* (Except for #15, which has never had box art, as it has never come in a box.)

Well, I had a whole little write-up detailing a carefully selected list, but I accidentally close the window and CTRL-Shift-Tab didn't recover it, so let me just tell you about how great my #1 is.

Quake is the single greatest FPS of all time. It took everything about Doom and made it even better. The level design, the music, the art style, the sound, the multiplayer (dear sweet God the multiplayer) are all just so incredibly well made, that any other FPS of the time paled in comparison. Infinite mods, a legacy that spreads from Valve games (the Source engine is based on the Quake engine) to even modern games like Call of Duty (even Black Ops' engine is based on the Quake III engine)... It's about as perfect as an FPS or a game in general can get.
