Dunno what's worse: The fact that someone greenlit this movie; the fact that they didn't either update the premise to fit current standards of industry or play it in the setting that DOES make sense (late 1950's)*; or the fact that this is gonna be a TRILOGY.
I mean, at one point there's a 70 page long speech which would translate to what, based on 2 to 5 minutes per page... The entire length of a movie.
If only it could suffer the same fate as Golden Compass and bomb...
* Note: Oh, that's right, "alternative Dystopian United States"; I keep forgetting all her premises only work in the most convoluted of settings which are only populated by braindead morons, except by her chosen Mary and Gary Stus...
They'll finish the trilogy. I guarantee Rupert Murdoch will step in as a producer if funding becomes an issue.
Would that mean then that the last part of the trilogy will be the speech alone? Again, 70 pages long, and anyone with a boner for Ayn Rand won't allow for a single page to be skimmed.
It's an anti-communist story set in a dystopian future where productivity and innovation are discouraged. The basic premise is that capitalism is a positive driving force, and when you take it away, you take away people's desire to work hard.
Don't worry Ryu, I can't stand that wench either... after reading Atlas shrugged, I wanted to burn the book.

I submit that most of you who say hate Atlas Shrugged have never actually read it and are simply repeating South Park's opinion of it. Baa baa baa. Good little sheep.
I read Fountainhead and Atlas Shrugged and I thought they were good. Fountainhead has some real snappy dialogue and portrays a variety of people who seek fame and achievement I think more accurately than I've read elsewhere ever. Atlas Shrugged is like a really big apocalyptic end of the world story. The action and pacing of it was exciting enough. If you don't agree with her beliefs, thats fine, probably for the better, but the books are fun enough to read outside of that. I am going to see this movie as soon as I get some free time.
