After three very, very challenging years, my cadet career is finally coming to an end. I get my commission on Friday--I'll be the Army's newest 2nd Lieutenant. Things have been so crazy I haven't had much time to reflect on it til now, but I do now (partially from being unable to move thanks to the fine, fine NCOs "goodbye cadets" smoke session on Navy SEAL beach) and wow. I usually don't give two shits about ceremonies like graduations (I certainly won't be going to my credential graduation), but this...this feels like a really big deal to me. Seeing myself in a full officer's uniform (even if it IS the stupid female version) was a huge WTF moment, when I tried it on yesterday.
Anyways, I'll post a pic or two on Friday (...or maybe Saturday or Sunday, depending on just how crazy the celebration gets.)
(Also: I found out I passed my thesis and student teaching! I still have four more weeks to finish out the high school year, but the fear of failure is over. The Master Teacher From Hell can criticize me and make my life miserable for that much longer, but her influence over my passing or failing is DONE. THANK. YOU. JESUS.)
