With Syd's blessing I have been working on some new forum features. Some of them are active right now, and one will become active tomorrow.

What is active right now?

3 new BBCodes

Code:

[SPOILER] [/SPOILER]

If you have spoiler information to announce, you can now use the BBCode SPOILER to create a section that will hide the information from those who don't wish to read it.

Example:
[SPOILER:96f901ea82] This text is hidden until someone clicks that show button... and then they can hide it again! [/SPOILER:96f901ea82]

Code:

[NSFW] [/NSFW]

If you have some content that could get someone in trouble at work, or is too outrageous for main forums under normal circumstances, the NSFW code will allow you to give the option to view it.
[NSFW:96f901ea82] On a normal day, there might have been some naughty stuff here! [/NSFW:96f901ea82]

[NES] [/NES]

There is no real reason for this one... I liked it and felt like embedding the NES font into the forums.

As for the feature that will activate tomorrow, when you hover over the "post icon"

or the date text next to it, the URL for the post will fade in and have its text selected ready to be copied. It will fade away as soon as you do anything else. This should make it easier to reference specific posts via URL instead of having to click through the post icon link and copy out of the address bar (if you even knew about that feature).

The NES BBcode doesn't seem to work for me; it just gives me larger Times New Roman text:

I guess I need a font installed for it to work.

For some reason IE is not properly displaying it now. I'll work on it and figure out why.

Edit: I figured out why... I'll have a fix in place hopefully by the end of the day.

Hey GPF,whenever I hold my cursor over the date above a persons post, the URL is present of the post. This the first time I've noticed it. Is that something you are adding as well?

Hmm, just thought of something for the NSFW code: why not have an ability to add a small description of what is hidden, this is how I guess the code would work:

I hope you get an idea on what it would look like, because I cannot be bothered making a photoshop of it.

This is a good question that I do not have the answer to. If Syd would like to make a ruling on this or open it for discussion, I kindly request that it be done in another thread so that this one can be kept technical.

Nice work as always, Fontaine!

After screwing around a bit, it looks like if you try to contain one within the other, you only need to click the Show button once instead of twice to see the text.

Apologies for being picky, but it should be advised that the font only scales evenly at multiples of eight. It really bugs me personally when pixel fonts aren't scaled at even factors.
