I described this problem in the chat earlier today.

My Dad is a college physics teacher and put together a bunch of cool gadgets online using some program. These files were saved as executable .jar files, and most work, except for a few I've found. He has offered to double my check if I can figure out the problem.

Mainly, the issue is I try to open these problem files and acts like normal but instead of opening the Java program, it turns into a Google Chrome. Sometimes, it freezes this way, but I've also received an error message stating the page is unresponsive, and gives me the option to kill the page or to wait for it to respond (I 'x' out of the page).

My question is, how do I determine the problem and, if possible, fix it?

If it means anything, the programs that do work have a sort of progress bar before opening the page, whereas the ones that don't simply open the Chrome page. Also, the ones that work open a Java window.

Uninstall all java installations on the computer. Update all browsers. Reinstall Java with the latest version.

hmmm, do you have the source code for the ones that do work vs the ones that don't? it sounds like there's something funky in the code.

This is not a signature.
