Ok, So I'm an asshole because I've never heard of this game before seeing Ash mention "I might get a PSP because this and other games were on it"
So, I decided to check it out.
This game is fucking amazing for anyone who loves Tactical Turn Based RPGs. I've been playing it for the past 4 days like its some form of Electronic Heroin. The Job classes are unique in the way they level, so far I'm digging the story (even if its one i've heard before) and my only complaint is how sometimes your guest characters get this suicidal rush feeling where they dive into a pack of 15 enemies and get stomped. Especially if you want to keep them alive so they eventually join your team.
Either way. Seriously, if you own a PSP. Check this game out. Fucking sweet.

I was going to try and get the preorder bonus tarot cards that came with it off eBay. The game itself looks super awesome, as well, but I don't have a PSP.

It is amazing, I bought the PSP just for it. Also got the tarrot cards. Can't recommend this game enough.

I love everything Ogre Battle, but cant really justify a PSP just for that.

I was lucky enough to play this game once. I wish I could get my hands on a PS copy of it, but they routinely go for $100+

I would rather hunt down a SNES copy of it. (Well, Super Famicom, anyway.)

Forgive me for bringing this back up, but I cannot stress enough how fantastic this game turned out to be for the PSP. I'm tellin' ya, this game is the sole reason to own a PSP. I've already had one for some time, but there are some pretty cheap ones out there if you can get a used one.
The layouts look fantastic and the amount of editing and choosing your items, weapons, etc. is crazy. Seriously. If you're a tatics fan such as myself, you gotta get this.

I actually pre-ordered this, but have not got around to play it or even open it yet. I have never played a Ogre-game first, but I considered ebaying Ogre Battle in preparation for this one. Should the games be played in order or is it not really important for this series?

You won't be lost if you start from here. The story included is pretty detailed. Also if this might be your first entry it might take a little to get around the kinks, how the battle system works, and all that jazz. When you start you're given a pretty nice tutorial so they don't just throw you in the dark.

Seriously, this game is fucking Amazing. I'm still playing this.
Also, there are story choices in it, and the sweet thing about it is you can go back to that choice, and pick the other one to see how the story rolls out, WITHOUT having to replay the whole game.
I love that feature.
Also, during battle, you can go back the past 50 turns and change how your members act. So if there was a point where shit just went horrible quick, then you can go back and fix it or just replay the whole damn level.

I've contemplated getting a PSP for this game and a few others (the Final Fantasy Tactics port yesyes). I had the PS1 version of this but never got around to completing it.

This new PSP verision is by far the best port I've seen from Tatics Ogre. I vaugely remember the other versions but this one is (of course IMO) the best one to date.
