3 Things I Learned from this show:
1) Bruce Dickinson is in better shape than anyone on this planet.
2) Bruce Dickinson sounds exactly like Randall, the leader of the Time Bandits whenever he is not screaming or singing.
3) Iron Maiden does not screen their opening acts.
Semi-Full Review (Still Hung Over But I'll Try)
So we got there a bit early, passed through a million checkpoints and ended up in the ADT Club. Very nice area with a full bar and food staff bringing you whatever you desire. My brother and I decided to go with Killians draft, to get the party started. Several bears later the opening act came out, and they were total shit. I'm not sure if since this was a South America tour and they just popped over here for 2 shows in Florida they couldn't find anyone, but this band sucked balls. I'm thinking Anvil might have been the opening act, but they got lost on the way to the arena so these clowns filled in. Anyways, they finally wrapped up their Papa Roach set, or whatever it was, and it was on to Maiden!
Bruce came out, started things off with a track from the new album The Final Frontier. It was a solid tune that had the sound that it could have slipped onto any of the first four albums. After that 2 Minutes 2 Midnight kicked in and the place went ape-shit. They continued the evening mixing old and new and did a very long set list, with Bruce running all over the place like a spider monkey. Their rendition of the Trooper sounded like it was the album being played over the PA, I kept waiting for a skipping CD debacle much like Milli Vanilli. They sounded that good.
The stage set was great, changing back drops with each new song, and somehow Bruce even had time to dress up for the Trooper, I have no idea how he got dressed so fast. The only thing not meshing is that they should really tell Janick Gers to go away and stop dancing all over the stage like he's playing with White Snake. He also kept playing different solos over Adrian, and that started to piss me off. I think he crowds the band, but they don't have the heart to tell him Adrian Smith came back and he can leave now.
All in all an amazing concert and I would recommend anyone to find a way to see them, put it on that bucket list and give yourself a year to live.
