That thing is huge though, totally impractical for my knife-gun needs.

It looked like it was going to be awesome.... it wasn't.

He has to be on top of the target to shoot the thing and the machete starts to rotate handle over blade right away once it stops accelerating.

I think if he had made a channel for the hilt to rest in and slide down and pulled the hilt (pushing the blade) it would have fired straighter and more quickly.

this idea sounded great, til i saw the video.

as others have pointed out, its huge, unwieldy, and perhaps totally inaccurate if you are not standing on top of your target. the little slingshots he showed us afterwards were better IMO.

and when i read the thread title, i was thinking this would be a crossbow that either shot little Danny Trejo's, or a crossbow that his character was supposed to use in Machete.

What he should do is see how many flaming machetes you can launch from a trebuchet.

This. It made me pause to think about a toy based on a movie that was originally rated X.
