On one hand, Gargamel's the only thing I liked of the trailer, since it's almost spot on.
On the other hand... Why the FUCK is there a SCOTTISH smurf?
It's bad enough that I'm still questioning why the setting is Present New York instead of Middle Ages Europe (to be fair, the fact that the package at 0:33 came from Belgium has some semblance of cleverness...). Now I have to wonder why in the fucking fuck there's a FUCKING SCOTTISH SMURF in the mix!?
god, how often do they have to say "smurf" in that trailer.
I like Neil Patrick Harris a little but there is no possible way i will watch this.
I fucking hate the smurfs right now.

It's a good thing it's in 3D, otherwise I would totally not give it a chance...

It's a kid's movie. What did you expect?
The Smurfs are just a cute kid thing. There's not too much you can do with them. Take off the nostalgia and think about this: if you had never seen The Smurfs as a child, would you watch that cartoon now as an adult, seeing it fresh? I submit that almost everybody would put it on the order of something like Ni Hao Kai Lan or whatever, and not pay too much attention to it.
Mind you, I like The Smurfs cartoons. But I recognize that the reason I like them is almost purely out of nostalgia.
Cause that's how I roll bounce.

Yeah, that looks pretty bad and I echo Atman's sentiments - why the fuck is there a Scottish smurf? Are Scottish people inherently funny? I live near Scotland and I got news for America: they're not funny.
Gargamel definitely looked great though.

Yeah, Smurfs weren't even cool when I was eight, I don't know why you guys are getting bent out of shape about them still not being cool.
I'm sorry but no. I hate this as an excuse. I was a child and watched plenty of great movies and tv shows that I still enjoy. Yes children will enjoy something that is bright and colorful and lacking in substance but that's not a reason to make that film.
With the films of pixar and others and the complex topics they have approached and still remained family friendly, just giving something a pass because kids will watch it doesn't cut it for me.
I would have loved if they did something interesting with the smurfs and made a cool and cutesy fantasy movie about this group of blue people and their battles against an evil wizard and peppered it with nice visuals and maybe a song or two. Instead what we have is enchanted with smurfs with non of the love that went towards the former.

i cant wait to see if they have a hip hop smurf.
or mexican smurf. since mexicans are short, they could just a mexican dress in white & have him painted blue, like the blue man group.
So what is everyone shitting in the microwave about? Yeah Smurfs is gonna suck, because original Smurfs sucked! You didn't shed a tear when the re made Alvin & the Chipmunks did you? Because that shit sucked in it's original form too!

A sleeping beast stirs in Hollywood at these words...

I'm not pissed at the Smurfs movie specifically because I never liked the Smurfs anyway, I just get annoyed at the drivel Hollywood keeps putting out knowing it'll make millions of dollars and the people who go see these movies don't really care about quality.

As it's been said before, there's no accounting for taste. Until consumers start to conscientiously avoid movies roundly considered 'bad' by most, they'll never go away, and as long as most films pander to a certain demographic (teen-twentysomething guys, kids, women, whatever) they're almost bound to make money. Personally, I don't think it's ever going to change, and you're just going to see more and more rehashes of same old, same old.
