Laura Lynn Hickey of Centralia, who had three previous children removed from her custody by the state, appeared before Lewis County Superior Court Judge Richard Brosey in the town of Chehalis, about 90 miles south of Seattle, and was ordered held on $1 million bail.
Centralia Police Department spokesman John Panco said investigators determined that Hickey's infant son was alive when born at home about 19 weeks premature but suffered "fatal injuries that were intentionally inflicted."
Panco told Reuters the newborn was decapitated with a knife "commonly used in the kitchen."
Paramedics were called to Hickey's residence after neighbors heard her cry out for help in the early morning hours of March 2. Hickey was taken to Centralia Providence Hospital, where she told doctors that she had suffered a miscarriage.
"When questioned by emergency room staff, Hickey admitted to giving birth and that the child was under the sink in her kitchen," Panco said. The body was later found in a plastic Tupperware container by paramedics who returned to the home.
Lewis County Coroner Warren McLeod said "toxicology and microscopic studies" from the autopsy remained incomplete. Typically, those laboratory results take six to eight weeks, he said on Thursday.
Police arrested Hickey on Wednesday. She was held in the Lewis County Jail without bond in Chehalis.
Hickey, believed by police to be unmarried, is the mother of three other children who were removed by the state's child welfare agency about a year ago, Panco said.

What...The...Fuck? Seriously this is just messed up. I mean she has three kids already taken away by the state. They should just sterilize people before they do shit like this when they show they can't be fit parents...

Christ, that's just disgusting. I wish about fifty percent of the populace would get sterilized, though, honestly. There wouldn't be damn children left behind if we had the capacity to handle them all. Personally, I think breeding should at least require a test or something, but that's me and I'm strange and don't like babies/kids.

I think if you show you are a completely unfit parent who will be a danger to your kids if you have them, you should probably be sterilized. This woman had three of her kids taken away already. Did any of us think she'd magically be an okay parent if she had more? Of course not. Allowing her to do so is a form of neglect on society's part, I think.

Also she clearly needed help. A mentally sane person doesn't decapitate infants. Sad

The hell is wrong with this woman?

That's completely fucked up. I agree with the notion of having some sort of standard when it comes to having children based on mental stability and income. I really hate reading about things like this.

All legitimate options and guess what, so is abortion. I'll agree that it shouldn't be used as an excuse to be stupid and promiscuous because you can just have an abortion again and again, but I don't buy this baby killing bullshit everyone tries to pin on abortion. Also, being Liberal, I kind of take offense to the fact that that is all anyone thinks of us. I am not a baby killing, weak-willed, limp-wristed Communist!
