I just completed Oracle of Ages last year, and I wanted to start to play Seasons, however I was never huge on Pokemon, so this double-game thing always bothered me. I have tried to search the web, but I can't get a satisfactory answer. What I wonder is: how exactly does the connections between the games work? Is there passwords? Do I need the link cables? Should I play the games at the same times, alternating between them (guess I already screwed that one up), or is it ok to complete them one by the time? I want to get the complete experience from these games, as I love Zelda, so it would be nice to get a brief description from someone who is more familiar with it.
Thanks!

I think you need the link cables. Try Wikipedia or GameFAQs. Either one should have the info you're looking for.

you can play one , and then the other. the order doesnt matter.
you beat one, you get a password for the other one. when you start your game on the other one, you have a special icon next to your name to show you already completed its counterpart.
once you complete both, you get another password to enter into the 1st game you played and then you can finally beat ganondorf on that one. when you enter that final password, you get a triforce icon next to your name to show you completed them properly.

You can use link cables, but a 20 character (or is it 25? not long) password will transfer everything fine.
They're different from pokemon in that both versions are entirely different games. Think of it as one game spread over two cartridges.

I got, and beat, Ages because it was described as being closer to Link to the Past, whereas Seasons is more like the original LoZ. And you can find several passwords for the game on GameFAQs.

I played Oracle of Seasons - it's a pretty enjoyable game. I'll have to play Ages sometime.

Hmm... I actually was wondering about how these two games go together before.
I shall also say that I want to see both games on that 3DS Virtual Console. And Link's Awakening.

I was told that Ages is more puzzle-oriented whereas Seasons is action-oriented. Since the two games allowed my brother and I to play to our strengths, I finished Ages and my brother did Seasons. Of course, since he's the faster gamer, he also finished the epilogue.

Hmm, I did beat Ages, but I can't remember getting a password, that was why I asked in the first place. Guess I have to beat that bitch Vaati again to have a look.
Thanks a lot for all the answers guys!

I remember you could transfer you Golden Sun characters to Golden Sun 2 via password or link. I believe to access the password in Golden Sun, you had to input a secret button code that Golden Sun 2 gave you.

Yep. As soon as I figured this out I power-grinded in the original Golden Sun until The Lost Age released. I got the party to level 60 - you only need to be around low to mid 20s to beat the game.
Yeah, I really liked Golden Sun. Wish I had that free time now.
Anyways, more video games should implement these game data carryovers. Of course, I think Oracle of Ages and Seasons was a cool setup as well, but unfortunately I was never able to complete the entire experience back in the day.

Golden Sun is great, and I did manage to transfer my team there. To bad your original team only comes into play really late in the second game.

You should get a password for beating him. It has been a while, but I remember finding good instructions for password hacking in that game too. I got all the rings that way in them.
