I was reading an article on the AP wire earlier about how the new cast members are making a notable difference on SNL. It mentioned, among other things, how Andy Samberg and Chris Parnell's rap "Lazy Sunday" has become a big hit on the internet.
One paragraph though particularly jumped out at me:
"[Kristen] Wiig already has a recurring character — a checkout lady at Target who couldn't be happier with her job, who races away from her register and off to the shelves to pick up each new product she spots.
I can't believe they mentioned that. The Target sketch is absolute shit. It's nowhere near as good as Toonces, Unfrozen Caveman Lawyer, Daily Affirmations With Stuart Smalley, or The Continental. It's not even as funny as those mediocre Gap Girls sketches. Hell, it's not even as funny as Molly Shannon.
Sweet, I got to diss Molly Shannon and Kristen Wiig in one fell swoop. I feel accomplished.
Oh, and if you haven't see Lazy Sunday for some reason,
HERE IT IS.
