January has officially become the snowiest month in recorded history here in Connecticut.
Storm after storm, we keep getting hit. The predictions are that this trend will continue well into February.
While I know many of you live in areas that are used to enormous amounts of regular snow, our average annual snowfall for Hartford is about 45 inches. Not too bad when you consider that it is spread from November through April. This month alone Hartford has been hit with over 47 inches.
And just to make sure that we really do top all of our records, across the state, there is another storm tracking to hit us Friday and Saturday.
When the hell did CT move into upstate New York?

What's snow?
Seriously. We haven't received more than a light dusting (Which didn't stick for long) all winter.

I'm surprised we haven't been hit that hard with snow this year, it's been for the most part pretty average.

Snow sucks. Unless you're talking about the rapper. He's easily on the Top 100 White Rappers of All Time list.
Well... another 12 inches is being predicted for the next 2 days.

We got two hard snowstorms in December here in Virginia and haven't seen so much as a flurry since. What are you all going on about the snowiest winter ever?
I'm not a bad enough dude, but I am an edgy little shit. I'll do what I can.

Surprisingly, the Adirondacks (where I am right now) isn't as snowy as it is back in Syracuse, yet it is A LOT COLDER then down in the 'cuse.

It's about as bad here in NJ. We've been getting an average of two snowstorms a week since winter started. And I thought the last two winters were snowy...
Oh, and the rapper is awesome. Whatever happened to him?

There is a 20% chance of a light dusting here on Thursday and Friday morning.

pfffft.....
you guys have it easy
Try living in Edmonton AB... its atrocious here, snowfall is as bad as its ever been, something like 1 million cubic meters has already been cleared (thats not even exaggerating) and then to make it worse, it wamrs up above 0C, rains, and then the very next day it all freezes turning everything into ice.
Let's assume it's a mixture of the two!

We are supposedly getting 12-24 inches of snow in the next two days. I'll believe it when I see it.

You are quite mistaken. That amount of ice would shatter world records, not to mention every roof in the city. Even one inch of ice can cause serious problems - we had an epic ice storm a couple of years ago, I think about an inch and a half or so...much of our city was without power for more than a week.
I just checked the forecast there, it says they're getting "wintry mix", which usually means "snow changing over to freezing rain".
The 12-16 inches -is- snow accumulation, but remember, snow and rain are measured differently...it depends on how wet the snow is, but it's about 10 inches of snow = 1 inch of rain.
Well... another 12 inches is being predicted for the next 2 days.
There's a sexual joke in here somewhere.

In CT the stores ran out of snow rakes. Until this weekend I didn't even know that a snow rake was a thing at all. It is pretty much a long pole with a thing on it you can use to pull snow down off a roof.
Since I didn't have one I opted for the old fashion method.
I looped a rope around my chimney, climbed onto the roof using a ladder, tied the rope around my waist and shoveled that shit off. I cleared 3 feet of snow off.
On average with the type of ice and snow on my roof, it weighs about 10lb per cubed foot. A low estimate of the area is about 60-80 sq feet for the roof section I cleared.
So on a low estimate, 60sq ft X 2ft deep = 120 cubed feet X 10lb = 1200lb.
On a high estimate 80sq ft X 3ft deep = 180 cubed feet x 10lb = 1800lb.
That P90X shit sure did come in handy.
