1. struggling to make ends meet
I thought it was "struggling to make ends meat". You know, like you were so fucking poor that all you could afford were the lousy pieces of meat trimmings left over when the butcher was done carving up a side of beef. I like my version better. The correct one has cheap sexual connotations that always make chuckle.
2. when push comes to shove
I thought it was "when Bush comes to shove". I was 8 and he was president, sue me. I had no idea what the phrase meant at all or why people said it. It makes more sense now!

I used to think "Dime a dozen" was "Dine a dozen" when I was like, younger than 10. I probably said it to someone, they called me a retard and I learned the real phrase.

I use to say "for all intensive purposes" rather than "for all intents and purposes".

Until I learned more about it, I wrote "Palaced Indians" in a middle school paper about the news which featured a story on Palestinians.

I use to think my parents were saying "I love you" to me throughout my childhood, but I later found out they were actually just mouthing the words "olive juice".

To be honest, I have mistaken or not known the meaning of more idioms than I care to admit.

I used to think that BBW stood for "big black woman", given that there's no shortage of them where I live.

Instead of enunciating each letter in LOL and ROFL, I said them like regular words. The others are normal though.. No idea why. But my friends continue to hate me for saying it the 'wrong' way.

I used to think BBW stood for "big bad wolf", I was very young and reading the personals. My dad had a good laugh over that one.

I recently found out "as in, TODAY) that it's supposed to be "lull into a false sense of security" instead of "lure into a false sense of security". It made no difference, and my life hasn't improved in the slightest

I used to say 'cut-and-dry,' and although it's seemingly acceptable now to say it like that because so many people screw it up, it SHOULD be 'cut-and-dried.'

For the longest time, I thought people were saying "nip it in the butt" (yes, I was quite the immature five year old).
