Quote:
In 1995, Enix America closed, throwing plans for an English release of Dragon Quest VI into doubt. "I may not live long enough to see Dragon Quest VI," wrote one fan. She wasn't exaggerating. She was 76 at the time.

After 15 years, Dragon Quest VI will get an English localization on Feb. 14, but it came about six weeks too late for Edith Jeter of Puyallup, Wash. A 1996 edition of Nintendo Power discussing Enix America's closure featured Jeter's letter. "I'm now 76 years old. I may not live long enough to see Dragon Quest VI unless someone takes action soon," she wrote.

Urban Champion-e, a forum member at Racketboy, ran across the issue and letter recently and wondered what became of Mrs. Jeter. After a Google search, he discovered she died peacefully at her home on Jan. 3. She was 91. She is survived by two children, and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.

MERGE!

Also, that kinda sucks, but with 15 years passing by, and reaching 91 years, I have to wonder how well she would have been able to play it if she were alive today.

The only fan translation I could find was released in 2001 (meaning she was 81 at the time), and it's not even a 100% translation. If I was that old, I'd settle for nothing less than a complete work.

Anyone that preorders this with GameStop gets a slime plush.

I think the one I have is 5". 4" isn't bad. Just as long as it isn't the tiny one that barely looks like a slime.

Did anyone else preorder this from GameStop? If so, what does your shipping confirmation say? Mine makes no mention of the preorder bonus.

If I somehow got fucked over, I am done with GameStop. GameStop sucks. Amazon is a much better video game retailer and I hope they run GameStop out of business. In fact, it's a forgone conclusion that Amazon will run GameStop out of business. I predict it will take 1-3 more years for it to happen.

I bought it from Gamestop and picked it up in store. When I preordered there was no mention made of the bonus, but when I picked it up today the guy gave me the slime.

Gamestop does suck. They act like condescending dicks if you don't sign up for the rewards card. I only preordered VI from there because it was the only place I could get a copy of DQ V for a reasonable price, and even then I had to drive all the way across town to get it.

I hope yours is included.

And god forbid you walk into a GameStop to try and buy a new game you didn't preorder. They're always assholes about it. No, guy, I didn't preorder Mario Sports Mix. Somehow I didn't find it necessary. Oh look, you have a giant stack of them. I was right.

Eh I don't take it personally, they are required to do that.

I miss Funcoland because they had old NES carts and junk, I don't miss their prices for them however.

Well, I got a reply from GameStop to an e-mail I sent them. Apparently the toys are shipping separately due to inventory issues. So... hooray.

Me: Hey, I'd like to buy a copy of DQ 6.
Her: Sure, did you pre-order it?
Me: No. I don't suppose I could still get a slime though?
Her: Only if you ask nicely.
<complete transaction>
Her: Now here's your slime, but remember you need to preorder to get this kind of stuff in the future.

She was cute.

The other employee either didn't mind or didn't know.

I use to give free shit out to Milf's back when I worked at FuncoLand, it usually required them to buy a cleaning kit and/or a subscription to Game Informer. And that my friends is how you A. Make a shitload of commision and B. Become the top sales associate and C. Become assistant manager.

Basically this vixen is using her looks and/or "niceness" as a ploy to get gentlemen to visit her and preorder their games. She is the devil but clever, I imagine she has no problem at all getting preorders. That's why I like male salesmen, no attraction and no breasts or ass to get me off guard.

I need to pick up this game by the way.

I've seen plenty of breasts on salesmen at Gamestop! Granted it's not the same kind of distraction that you're referring too. Razz

So there's apparently going to be a tag event at certain Best Buy stores this Saturday and also next month. There's only one in my state for the first and it's nowhere close by, two for the second but also too distant.

Two days before DQ VI came out, I asked some guy at GameStop nearby my house what the release date was, just to make sure. You'd think GS employees would have a brain, but not this one. He was looking it up in the computer, and he goes "the closest store that has them is in California". That wasn't the question, dummy.
