I loved the music in A Link to the Past. I could live to be a hundred and I could still hum the music.
Fuck yes. The first time I came out of the Sanctuary and heard that (semi) orchestral version of the Zelda theme...goosebumps, man. Still one of my favorite gaming memories of all time.
This is a little later (PS era), but remains one of my favorite VG tunes ever:
Talk about a way to get you pumped for a boss fight, hfs.

Anything from Katamari Damacy counts. No question.
Zeromous boss fight is a good call from GP.
And honestly, any Boss Music in any Final Fantasy is really, really good. The one SH put out is awesome, but I've always been partial to JENOVA's theme.
Badass, agreed. I still prefer the boss fight music, but at this point its all about personal taste and hair-splitting. FF VII has such an amazing fucking soundtrack.
On that note, did anyone see the tour a few years back of the FF music played by full orchestra and choir? Friends and Family I think it was called? I saw it. One of the best tickets I have ever bought, holy crap.

First of all, Dr. Cossack 3-4 is better than Dr. Wily 1 in MM2. Easily, the most overrated MM song ever. I like it, but it's repetitive to me and it always seems people just like it because it sounds like a rock song.
Secondly, November Rain >>> Sweet Child.
Thirdly, I have way too many favorites, some of which are very obscure for me to post just five.

Feel free to bring light to those of us less educated in VGM than yourself by posting a few obscure ones, Ba'al.

Sorry about being blunt, but that's how my mind works at times. I'll just post one that's readily available.

You know, for whatever reason, that Gradius bit reminded me of another one of my favorite themes:
Thinking back I always like the music at the end of Phantasy Star 2 as well. The clip below does show the end of the game, so don't click it unless you don't mind it being spoiled.
The intro music to Monkey Island is also a favorite of mine.
