Henry Rollins is one of my heroes. His standup is really funny, too, although it's less punchline and more anecdotal.

My dad took me and my little brother to see Rollins speak back in 2002. He was on stage just talking for nearly four hours straight, about everything you could think of, the birth of punk rock, the West Memphis Three, food, whatever.
Pretty interesting experience. I remember thinking "damn, he's really short(which he is.") It was also where I learned about what a complete piece of shit Ted Kennedy was(may he rot in hell.)

Honestly, I've never liked Henry Rollins or Black Flag, and I thought his spoken word side on Family Man was embarrasing.

Having read three of his books and gone to his spoken word, I can state with pretty good certainty that he's not any more intelligent than your average sober upper-middle-class White American. This puts his intelligence above most drugged-out rock stars, so he looks far more intelligent than he is by comparison.
