This isn't a complaint, but it seems like we can't go more than 1-2 weeks before someone has a computer issue that needs solving. Whether it be something like problems with an external HD to something else, why not create a subforum or user group dedicated to this sort of thing?

How about a general "help" forum where we can ask for help with anything?

I vote for a new forum called "Fix this, GP".

Laughing

Well... there do seem to be a larger number of help requests, and I'll be honest, I prefer to respond to technical questions in forum threads instead of PMs. I'd be interested to hear what others think about this topic, especially Knyte.

Also, where was this support when I suggested it?

For some reason, now I'm really against this.

I'm against a Tech Forum until there is a Food Forum. I demanded a Food Forum way before you came up with the Tech Forum, Hacker.

I say: LET THERE BE A TECH FORUM!

ALSO: I just had to do this:

Hack, what fonts did you use? I know a font of the original DOS font, which I can PM on request.

I used the fonts you already had in the image, and my handwriting (laptop trackpad style! Extra Messy!)

Seriously. I agree with the Tech forum Idea.

Will it happen? Probably not. But I really hope it does.

I don't think it is a terrible idea, but at the same time, we seem to be trying to make more and more subforums that have nothing to do with pop culture nostalgia , which is what this site is about, isn't it?

I have no issues helping people out whenever they need. And, they can continue to ask GP and myself for aid via General.

I am only for it, if it is the HELP! forum, and we have multiple parts. A tech help section for me and GP. Also, I would like to see JEW given a "Dear Abby" like relationship advice section. Oh, and a random question section run by the ghost of RegalSin.

You bring up a great point. Something I wasn't thinking about.

Maybe we can pull off the HELP! one then.

The thing is, HELP! subforum or not, people are gonna keep asking for help with stuff. And it's really kinda annoying in general.

Why is it annoying?

I think it would be helpful to group the help requests so that they don't fall between the cracks and so that they are separated from the general banter threads.

Those posts could be moved to the HELP subforum then right? Why is that annoying?

Also, I counted about 9 help requests since Thanksgiving. It's not a shitload, but a HELP subforum would probably encourage more people to ask for assistance for things, as some feel cluttering up General is bad and would rather not make a thread that could possibly be over and done with in two posts.

This more than anything.

Next time someone has the same problem, give the HELP! A quick search. "Oh! Someone else asked about this!" Problem solved.

Could fall under the "Outside The Box" Category.

In addition, I receive about 1-2 help requests per week via PMs. I would much prefer for these to be posts in a thread rather than a PM.

Also, I don't know about any of you, but I like to post technical solutions before people have problems... like the ninite.com post.

Well, if we did a Help forum. GP and I could do "PC 101" articles in it, teaching beginner to intermediate computer tip and tricks. Also, do "How To" guides, teaching how to do home repair and upgrades on PCs.
